I work the night shift in a medical facility here in Ireland, our mother company is over in d'allas in the USA, I used to work days but because we're essential they split us up into shifts because of the covid virus,, night-shift kinda sucks but at least the pay is better and because of the lock down I'm lucky I'm still working

I am a Network Security Engineer, have been for the last 20 years, soon to retire. (I catch Hackers) here in the US. I used to be an Airport Architect prior to that, last Airport I designed was in Austin, Texas. I also have a house flip company on the side, so some extra systems consulting and for 8 years a producer of messy porn. Maybe again one day....

All about the money mate! I went from $37K a year as an Airport Architect to over $100K to do Network Security! I gave up my dream job for money basically. No other way I could setup such elaborate shoots, I never made much or anything at all making messy movies. Most I loose on, the odd few I can make enough to make the next movie.... Maybe.... However I do love making a good movie and there are some benefits to a good income

Trained to be a carpenter but couldn't find work. Tried going it alone but struggled without initial finances. I'm now a team leader doing repair and maintenance for a large waterboard.

In the life before managing restaurants and bars, I was a full time touring musician, and I worked as a welder, mostly in a small shop building spiral staircases and shaped ironwork, but I was always a barback and bartender at night almost my entire adult life.

5 years quality auditor experience in the automotive industry inspecting chrome( I don't work in that field any more) Advanced computer skills, Build them fix them , Play them. Now i work for amazon and i love it.

School was MASSIVE fail.
At age 13, whilst still in school, I started work in a cinema, I loved that job and stayed in and out of it until I was 21 and permanently moved away from home, Tenby, Wales.

I did all sorts of other jobs around it, including, working in a sheep skin rug shop, dish washing, glass collecting at a holiday park, working on an old fort and delivering newspapers to a holiday park.
At 16 I left home and started working for an Aerospace company as a trainee Electrical Technician, in Cheltenham, that was a massive fail and I returned home after only 4 months and did a 2 year hairdressing course in college, I'll be honest, I hated hairdressing.
After that I did a 1 year college course in Business and Leisure Management.
I was then the manager of an amusement arcade for a year, before leaving home again to go to University to do a Business Management Degree with my girlfriend in Cheltenham, but dropped out when the relationship fell apart, so then started working as an assistant manager in Chain of Shoe stores, in Bath, again, a fail, only lasted a year.
Then I worked as a delivery driver installing TVs and Videos for Granada, that was also a massive fail, I had only just passed my driving test and wasn't very good at finding my way around the Bath/Somerset area in a big van, I lasted 3 months in that one.
I then became a Postman collections driver and stayed in that job for 7 years, I was then made redundant in 2003, met Lisa and started my career in WAM and Nightclubs, not knowing which would be the better choice.
In the end 13 years later, it turns out being a WAM producer was a much more successful venture for me.

I wish back when I was in school, that that funny thing about me liking girls wet and messy was a fetish and that I could make a career out of it, I would have spent my early years getting much more prepared for the future.

Although, I have to say that many of the companies I worked for, that were considered good jobs, have now gone bust and have closed down, Royal Mail is in trouble, retail is in trouble, this was even before COVID-19, so if I'd actually stuck it out in one of those jobs, I would probably have had more issues eventually and probably wouldn't have done as well in life.
Who knows, it's been interesting?

I've pretty much always worked in the auto industry, I started in a dealership was laid off worked in a body shop, was laid off went back to the dealership, quit to sell cars, found out people suck, and now I do quality control for a body shop and do side work on cars, looking into getting into flipping cars. I've also produced shows and worked crew for theater and improv productions.

I work as a salesman in one of Swedens biggest Apple resellers, I have been here just over 20 years. Lately I've been thinking of maybe trying to switch position and become a technician instead, I quite like to fix computers, and I'm getting tired of talking to customers all the time, but we don't need anymore technicians at the moment.

I am hot when I am at work. It is literally someone's job to stand near me with a fire extinguisher and tell me if I've caught myself on fire again.

I studied computer science at Uni and then went off to work for a mid sized Ecommerce company. That's been me for 5 years now and its now a mid to large company.

I like to consider myself an amateur philosopher, and thus like to consider philosophical questions (like whether or not Leon would have met Lisa if this, or if that, or if this other thing?) and my minor fascination with Leon is his foray into the wam production arena...a vocation i considered, but did not choose to pursue. One significant factor is my belief that Leon and I are exactly the same age (well...i turn 47 this year, Leon also?) maybe i recall incorrectly? So it is a philosophical comparison...here is someone that has been alive practically the same amount of time, but has followed a different path than me!

Whelp...i suppose i should share my details... pre-college jobs were office janitor (after-hours) grocery bagger and house painter. I have dabbled in the military services - US army AND navy. I didn't quite consider my "failures" at Law Enforcement (four so far, with attempt #5 now in its infancy)...oops, that doesn't count the 7+ applications that did not reach the point of a job offer. My schooling history is relatively successful...the most noteworthy being my bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (lesser certificates in helicopter repair, ship propulsion, submarine detection and law enforcement) Right now i operate machines (like the sennebogen 840) for an industrial scrap metal company!

Pay and importance are inversely correlated, at least in America.

What we consider "important" jobs can have a 0% occupancy rate, and the company can move along just fine. However the "unimportant" jobs, like stock clerk, cashier, and fry cook can only suffer so many losses before the whole system starts to crash.

A whole company can run just fine without a CEO. That company would go bankrupt pretty quickly without feet on the ground, doing the actual work to keep the stores running, as we've seen in the past few months.

Retired from the US Army last year after 23 years, landed a corporate communications gig for Starbucks - great money but hated the work - now doing some contract work for Microsoft and leadership consulting for introverts and sensitive/intuitive types on the side. All kinds of side projects at all times. Seriously getting screened for ADHD. Finished my bachelor's right before retirement, now looking at a master's in either executive coaching or going to business school.

Counting the days until our kids start daycare so that me and Mrs. Dude can make good use of the extra thick natrosol and MS Gunge from Messy Supplies. Can't come quickly enough!

Over the past 17 years I've gotten over the (slight) shame of not having a job in the traditional sense. How did I do that? By being happy that I cannot be cheated out of a paycheck for all
the work that I did not do. Recently, I got scammed out of over half my promised money by a bastard on Craiglist when I sold him something. I asked for only half the money up front
because I was worried about them not trusting me to send the item & the item working.

This experience has taught me that if I were to return to a traditional job, then I would have to demand the money UP FRONT first. As long as I never have a traditional job, I am not slaving away hours & hours doing something that does not personally directly benefit myself or give me personal fulfillment & then later being cheated out of the reward/paycheck.
