I feel like all this negativity is coming from misaligned expectations. Messygirl is just one person with an assistant producing this stuff. He doesn't have a customer service department.
Perhaps it's also the nature of the customs? Like you're straight up HGD's or Human statue customs need one model, so it's sort of easier to pull off.
When there's multiple models having a pie fight or something, it's more difficult to get all the moving pieces to align, and maybe messygirl is overly optimistic about the timelines.
I'm still perfectly happy to wait for my HGD's.
Perhaps you missed the part where he claims Leah is still involved and he isn't running the show by himself. When he likely is. And can't do it on his own. And people are just asking for better communication. Perhaps you get top priority because you are a big spender? That's my hot take
My hot take is that he's broke. He likely uses the custom money to pay his bills leaving no money to pay the models. It's also why he doesn't have money to issues refunds when asked. On the last thread a guy demanded a refund and MG said it would take 7 days. Why 7 days? If he got paid for a custom and didn't make the custom yet, shouldn't that money have been sitting in his account?
Then months and months goes by...still no money to pay the models for the custom so he has to invent excuse after excuse. Some custom clients actually believe his excuses and wait months and months. Some get sick of it and like this thread, along with many others, have to call him out on this board to attempt get a refund. Does he ever actually delivery customs? Sure, when he happens to have to money to pay the models. Then, as we've heard on this thread, he'll actually deliver a custom, ignoring details on the script and his reply is "eh, go suck an egg."
I also see he's been removed from the list. I think that says everything.
Bingo. I found it sus one of his best models up and left and it's obvious he doesn't know how to manage his site. Just a shame MG going out the way Ariel did . If ya'll can't keep up with a store retire with grace don't cause a drama shit storm tarnishing your brand.

I've never lost a model. The only model who no longer work with me have left the industry. Model stop working with producers when they don't get paid. Maybe this thread will be a big wake-up call to Messy Girl to simply bow out of taking customs. His reputation is destroyed.
Feel like Penelope leaving was the icing on the cake that he takes advantage of young models likely underpays them, and frankly does the bare minimum with editing. Like shit bro you could release two versions of your videos instead of cramming a verticle video into a horizontal canvas. I inspire to be a better editor because you can't even do simple things like that.
Uh, that's a weird complaint. I think the vertical video is really just an extra. That has nothing to do with being a good editor or bad. You're complaining about not having to pay twice for essentially the same footage but from a different angle?

The complaint is vertical video on a landscape canvas which essentially makes the footage smaller. This is why I say if you are going to shoot video, shoot horizontal. Unless you're doing photo, or social media reels, there is no practical use for using vertical in a shot. The angle has nothing to do with it but rather the orientation of the camera when shooting.
It doesn't necessarily make you a bad editor. It is just a poor choice when you want maximum field of view and want to give the viewer the full capabilities of their screen/monitor, especially if shooting a scene with more than one model. There are ways to shoot really great vertical video but I have yet to see anyone implement them here.

Not a weird complaint when you run your own site and can just release two seperate versions instead of cramming them into one landscape video. Yeesh people respond without even understanding the argument. Further proof these forums have gone so far downhill...

You said it's bad editing, like they don't understand what they're doing. I understood your argument, I'm sure they are aware they could make two videos and sell them separately, it's not a real complex idea. It seems stupid to me to sell two different videos of the exact same thing but different angles, but if you're crying about not doubledipping I guess go and spend your money.
Everyone will await your masterpieces that you will never do, you definitely need a ton of practice to learn properly how to make two videos instead of one. It's such a hard concept to grasp.

You wrote out a two paragraph argument when the two videos can just be bundled together. Boom argument over. I'd never charge twice for different angles of the same video. Maybe you should check my post history bud, I've made some of the best amateur content on this site. What have you made to contribute to the wam community other than overlooking my comment for this pointless argument? You don't even understand your own argument.

It's still not "bad" editing to split them or not it's a choice. Who the fuck cares?
And keep telling yourself you're the best, I always like laughing at people who wildly overestimate their importance. See it all the time, it's always just as hilariously sad.

Well I don't take that to be his complaint, which appears to be they didn't break it up into two videos or one. I agree, shooting vertical sucks. I'd ever do it for any release unless for Tiktok or Instagram specificially.
BUT, if they view it as just a bonus, which it seems to me they do, you jst stick the phone on the tripod...never done it but do those only hold the phone vertical? Get a second shot, then throw it at the end, boom. Not considered part of the actual video you're paying for, it's there if ya want it. I never look at them myself, and if it was cut in with the main video I'd call THAT bad editing. As such, it's just there for those who want it, or ignore it like I do.
Nah you just know nothing about producing or editing. Stay in your lane. I'm done participating in this feel free to message me if you are this childish.

[Name-calling removed. If you have a valid point you can make it without doing that. -MM] I don't mean fetish content, for professional clients and have also been the DP for films that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Tell me more about pro editing, guy who shoots himself sitting in a bathtub and STILL says he needs to learn the craft better. Jesus how much do you need to know for that? Looking at the manual for the record button?
Messygirl said: We have been working with tdk on this custom. Originally he wanted Penelope and we were set to shoot but she left in Oct. So we offered to replace her with Santana, but she was on hiatus because of school until this month to shoot. Zoey was also an option but she has already a long line of customs she is doing and tdk's would have taken even longer to get to with her.
Working on this custom me is an overstatement..there would be weeks even a month where I wouldn't get a response. It's imperative as a business to be transparent with customers and keep to your commitments. Don't blame the models and own up to the mistake. It's called accountability. Shifting blame because of poor time management or poor scheduling is the characteristic of poor management. There were several times you told me it would be completed and then disappeared. Then you brought up about the problem you had over there and all the supplies going bad because of a natural disaster last year that you posted about. What about the people here who were impacted by the fires here in California? You took money to cover your losses and took a long time to recoup but still never delivered the video, all while others have to pay you up front for what..a 5% chance of a video being completed and match the script originally sent? I also did forget to mention you lost my script twice

Didn't you start out this thread complaining about performers using minors to promote videos? Something that has nothing to do with anything. Not sure you are in a position to critique anyone's understanding of anything.

I feel ya. In any case, the subject has taken a slight detour from the OP along with others telling the horror stories of their experience with MG to editing critique of said producer. It just seems to be a bit less important in the face that people literally gave this person money and either haven't received their video as described (or at all) or their money back.
It's a great topic worthy of its own thread and anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE to talk shop, but to be fair to everyone else in attendance (and the mods looking on), probably best to resume to the topic at hand.

Yet again, this is his pattern. He took your custom money, spent it on bills/himself and no longer has the money to do your custom. So he has to push you off, ghost you, make fake excuses, anything where you don't demand a refund.

Too funny in a very bad way. I got the natural disaster excuse over and over too. I also got the silent treatment.
Ridiculous! Messygirl, GIVE THE GUY HIS MONEY BACK!!!

I agree about the topic drift, so I've put a new post (in the "off-topic" forum) about video formats: https://umd.net/forums/topicid/1063379 Feel free to chime in there
It's amusing how the haters come up with their own spin on MG. Here are the facts. We get over 100 customs a year and we have about 6 models available with only Zoey as the one true model who does it for a living. The others are housewives, students, etc. So yes, there will be a long wait sometimes for a specific model since their time is limited and because of the number of customs we get. Even Zoey is limited to 2 shoots a week and she has a long line of request, I shot two of them today. I will admit, that it can get overwhelming and I take on more than I can handle sometimes, so Leah is going to take all the custom orders for now on, and I'm going to just do the production side of things.

I mean, not for not, why didn't you take this action with the first complaint that went public? Like, I get it. Pride can be a bitch sometimes but clearly you were struggling to keep up with the workload. That's when you should have reassessed and action planned some sort of system in place to keep a happy balance between output and intake so you are not dealing with instances like this. Even if you drop that number to 50 customs annually, at least you are not losing sleep over posts like this and your clients are happy, right? Your peace has to be worth THAT much.
Like, I am not gonna add to the already mounting turdball you are dealing with by repeating what has already been said but you gotta maintain that healthy work balance, dude. It's really easy to lose yourself trying to keep up with the unrealistic pace people would expect you to run at and what I am saying is it is totally ok to go half that speed as long as all parties concerned are happy.
Hope things balance out for ya and all parties concerned can reconcile and are made whole in one way or the next.

I respond to him to let him know Santana was out from school and ready to shoot his custom, but then I saw on that same day he made the thread. He sent a messages like 4 days sooner, but I didn't see it, so I'm sure that was the reason he was upset.

You're a con artist. Please issue all the refunds that are due. These people trusted you and you screwed them.
Over 100 customs a year with six models who have very little time doesn't add up.
Why take money for more customs than you're able to produce? Surely that's doomed to fail right from the point you accept their money as you already know that your models don't have the time required? I can't figure out a way that could ever end well.
