If the stuff you post seems to fit two different categories, then you can pick the gender selection that you think fits best and It'll be fine.
We only have single category selections for gender (instead of multiple-select checkboxes) to keep it simple because this gender system isn't just the forum--it has to be compatible with all the media of UMD. It has to work with your other profile settings, and work with thousands of other people's profiles too, with their infinite different combinations of settings. And actually not take 10 minutes to load a page! I don't have a team of developers to create and beta-test huge leaps in software development (and running the site itself takes massive amounts of time), so I take small steps where I can. I'll be working on the ability to manually set video and download genders today! I'll be on the chat bar, so come say hi and drop me any suggestions you might have.
Okay, I've done it. Now, all downloads are auto-tagged with more-accurate genders, based on the models that are actually in them. You should see better results when filtering genders now, but note that not all producers assign models to their stuff, and in those cases we are defaulting to the producer's generic pref.
Producers, please help us out by adding models to your rosters and assigning them to your downloads, and I / UMD will do the rest!
I think it goes without saying, everything is in beta. LOL

I feel like all I see since this change was implemented is girls' boobs. Now, that's great if girls' boobs are your thing, but they are absolutely not mine. Show me a girls' boobs and you deflate my erection.
I loved this site. Loved it. And now it doesn't work any more. This used to be the hottest site on the internet. Now you may as well include pictures of kids' birthday parties.
What was wrong with the way it was? I'm tempted to register a ton of accounts just so I can stuff the ballot box for the "men should mean men only" a thousand times. Please, please, please separate it out. Maybe I'm a gay separatist asshole but can we please have it so boys who only want their WAM to be with other boys still have a place on here? Because WAM with girls, any girls at all, completely makes my dick wilt and renders it useless.
There are so few places on the web for this, I'd hate to lose this one. Please, please let there be a way to filter out female content, even if men are in it.
(And I love women! Just not when I'm trying to get off, which let's be honest, is the reason I come to UMD.)
I see your point but where do you draw the line in being purely male Wam. Our Dunk Tank Guys is male Wam however is presented by a female, who enjoys getting messy. Other Male wam sites also include female presenters or where the females are pieing or Gunging the males. It might not be your cup of tea to have that but there is a danger in having far to many filters and complicating things. The other issue is some posts may get missed.
For those that hadn't already seen, our sites and download stores are now back up following our break. We may even be shooting some new scenes again soon but I'll need to know what to film to hit the right filters. Male with male ( white socks or no white socks, Lycra or speedo's, Gunge or mud) or male being presented by female with a similar set of filters..... Sorry, all sounds very complicated. My view , the old system was working just fine as it was with Male and Messy forums.

I assure you we won't be adding any "male being presented by female with white socks" filters!
The old system was working just fine for a lot of people, but not for new folks who were confused and posting male stuff to the Wetlook and Messy forums. Every day they would get flagged and I had to move them. That's indicative of a confusing layout. Now, there's just Wetlook and Messy, and the gender is automatically understood by your preference. This system also gives us Trans and Coed which I had been asked for for years, and most recently it's enabled a Strict gender preference, which wasn't even available in the old Male Wam forum, much less Wetlook and Messy. Our code is actually much simpler and scalable for the future because now the forums work from UMD's overall gender system. Sorry for over-explaining again

Nope, it wasn't SplatHQ. It was someone called Wamstrodomus.

Awesome. I changed all his stuff to be tagged as male instead of female. Thanks for your help.
Just for clarification MM, in your post at the top of this page you say, "... I'll be working on the ability to manually set video and download genders today!..." Then in the next post you say, "Okay, I've done it. Now, all downloads are auto-tagged with more-accurate genders, based on the models that are actually in them..." Will there be a way for us to tag our individual profile videos, or will tagging based on model genders be the extent of it? I would like to keep my videos "tagged" as "male", but I think the 95% female content I post in the Forums is rubbing some folks the wrong way https://umd.net/forums/gender-classifications

Thanks for asking. I actually changed my mind (and I should have said so more clearly). I never put in a manual selection. Instead of trying to get every producer to go back and tag his/her stuff, we pretty much already know based on the models that are already attached, so now UMD just uses that data.
But this was only implemented on for-pay downloads; Videos were still auto-tagged with your profile preference. So I've since added the ability to attach your models to free videos as well, which should take care of the gender issue. Hit me if you think I've missed something!
Thank you, MM!! I created a model based on a screen grab, tagged it male, and edited my profile videos to include that model. Then I edited my profile so that "I'll normally post about:" is set to "Female content". I've tested the gender filters on the Videos section and Pic Archive against my postings that appear there and everything checks out! The one thing I can't do (nor really need to do) is appropriately tag a very few of my old Forum posts (like this one https://umd.net/forums/new-male-wam-vid---double-smes ), but of course everything going forward will be easy to tag.
Hope it wasn't too much trouble. REALLY appreciate it and I hope others find it useful as well

Nice, thanks. UMD will update all your content based on the new profile setting, but should leave alone any manually-set forum posts as well as downloads / videos with attached models. I can update any forum post too old for you to edit: Just hit me on inbox with the links and I'll do it when I get a chance.
I'll put a close to this whole thing with a note that it's now a moot point since we have the "strict" setting permanently available to all. But based on the poll, most thought that the inclusion of coed by default was the right choice. I do like the idea of "open" being the default choice, then offering everyone the power to then restrict it based on personal preference--rather than restricting it for everyone by default.
I know there are restrictions to how things can be done now and I do appreciate the efforts put into this forum/site. But I do miss the old way of having a section to Women pieing men. The current filters though just suffice. Its not a complaint, just an observation to missing the past.
I'm with all those who pointed out how unenviable your job is.
As far as the complainers - Come on people, I would understand if you were paying for this site, but you are not. These moderators bust their asses to ensure this free website you enjoy is of quality, and they do a damn good job.
Do I want to see naked women get messy? Not especially, but it certainly doesn't offend me, and I can't imagine why it upsets some people to the degree it seems, and that goes for all sides. We're all adults. Get over it.
The moderators have created a safe space that encompasses a larger community with many facets and sub-sub-cultures. That they make as many of us happy as frequently as they do is nothing short of a miracle.
These fetishes can be easily relegated to a quirky fringe by the majority of the population, and to many what we like is too bizarre to contemplate. So the next time you get angry at software engineers who spend countless hours bringing you readily-accessible content in a well-categorized manner because you accidentally saw a peepee or a Hoohah, grow up and think about what the average person would think of they saw your browser history.
We are not a large community. Let's support each other and offer help instead of negative critique. When a poll like this comes out, just answer it as honestly as you can.
