My husband and I were at a bar today having lunch. I told him to order another beer and I that I was going to go to a store a couple doors down to do some shopping. As I walked there I passed a very well know bakery that makes the most incredible fruit and pumpkin pies.
However, I glanced at the window and saw one of the girls making probably the biggest cream pies I have ever seen! When I was done shopping I walked back to the bar and told my husband that I had a surprise for him. We walked in and I could see them sitting in a display case in the back. His mouth dropped open! I think I may be in some trouble in the near future.
Here is the photo my husband took. He wanted to post it here but since I found them I told him I got to share the news!

To the one commenter above, I think she means the chain Baker's Square. They've all but pulled out of Chicago, but they do have a few stores left. Pillsbury bought them and ran it into the ground. Which is also what happened to Pillsbury; now the banks own them and they moved to Chicago.
The expensive cost of a pie is usually in inverse proportion to the amount of coverage.
Also, the better a pie taste the less likely it is to have a good coverage.
The best pies we ever used were on sale for 99 cents a piece we found at a mom and pop grocery store. Those are the pies you can see used on "Pie Club" and "Pie Fashion" among others.
And for some unexplained reason, we could never get key lime to stick properly.

Maybe in general, but this thing provided RIDICULOUS coverage. It was an excellent pie. Around here, $9 is cheap (cost of living is insane). Lets not be TOO cynical (for once, I know, a long-shot, but hey -- I can ask right?). The pie was amazingly good slapstick.
So I was back out in town today and stopped by to ask how much those pies cost....not joking...the girl said $27.95...I didn't even know a pie could cost that much!

Am I the only one who sees an attractive woman near the pie display in a supermarket and has a daydream? And then moves quickly to the frozen foods isle before my thoughts show?
Robby is right that the most expensive pies invariably provide the WORST results. I mean, you MIGHT drop $10 on one pie and find the exception to the rule, but I'd rather not take that chance, personally.
The only store-bought pies I ever got consistent results with were the now-out-of-business PetRitz pies. I think they cost $3 apiece or so. In the Early Years of SlapstickStuff, they provided both the best first hit (SS25) and the worst (SS27, the one black mark on Toshia's resume).
Robby's might have been a similar brand, hard to say. The Canadian equivalent were McCain pies, used to fantastic effect on YCDTOTV, and much later with WAMF. (I was always disappointed when they subbed in shaving cream pies, as those McCains were 10X better.) Again, they went out of business years ago so no alternative now.
Worse..if you do the math, making your own pies say out of a coolwhip/frosting mix, plus the graham cracker pie shell is going to likely cost you around $5 a pop. Face it, we have an expensive kink/fetish.
You will need to become multi millionaires to achieve WAM nirvana.

I feel like in an old-timey slapstick film, that would be the cue for the customer to pick up one of those pies and SPLAT! the grocery store clerk.
"Serves you right for price gouging!!!" the dialogue frame might say.

Eh, not QUITE that bad.... I can find generic Cool Whip (which actually works better) for around $1.30 or so, and that makes about 1 1/2 pies. And while my go-to Keebler crusts get pricey (around $1.80 or so), I've found that pies for throwing work as well or better with generic crusts ($1.25 or so) or baked crusts (2 for $2).
So even with adding in pudding or some other mix, I can still make a pie for about $2 to $2.50, which was cheaper than even PetRitz pies back in the day. It's not your bargain basement SC pies, of course.... But I've leave those to the (appropriately named) Fivver girls.
I have to dissagree with some of the comments here. However, this probably goes back to the old argument of Shaving cream vs real cream pies. If you just care about coverage then shaving cream is probably fine or even prefferable to you. If you are more into the scenario of a girl getting hit by a pie then youd probably prefer a real pie.
For me a real Bakery pie adds even more punch to the set up since its something someone spent time making just to be destroyed when its pushed into a girl's face. Just like some people like a girl to have a nice outfit, hair done, and make perfect just to have it all destroyed from a pie in the face.
Also, maybe some of you agree, real pies have a lot of different textures which i really enjoy. I dunno, my two cents. I think those pies look perfect.
