Noticed a lot of people on here discovered their fetish through shows that involved people getting gunged, which is partly true for myself too but I'm wondering did anyone actually ever get gunged during this period and not realise what they were experiencing was a kink or fetish?

Just curious because as I said I started off with seeing it on TV too and was both horrified and fascinated at the same and I never wanted it to happen me, however years later (still didn't know I had a fetish) I got gunged by this woman I found insanely attractive as part of a forfeit. I had come close to being gunged a few times but it looked so humilating to me that I always found a way to weasel myself out of it but not in this case as I'd already been cable tied to a chair prior to finding out I was going to be gunged as my forfeit.

The strange thing is even after that, I still didn't realise I had a fetish. I didn't discover it until years later and even then it sorta just came by freak chance.

So in short have you ever got gunged, wet or pied and felt things but it literally took years later and then you found out simply by chance?

Not gunged but did have a big old food fight with a previous partner which was very fun

The odd thing with me is, when I was much younger, I used to be terrified of watching gunge or anything messy on TV. As soon as I saw there was a gunge forfeit, I would switch over. I still to this day don't know why. Then I gradually got a bit more used to it the older I got. Then, when I was about early 20s I started getting curious about getting messy, particularly getting pied, and this was the early 2000s and the internet was widely available, so I looked up "pies in the face" online. Like a few people. I also used to fear wam I used to hide when it was on tv like nhp as a kid. Although I also had a lot of irl experiences of wam at a young age (mainly due to being in the scouts) and trying to avoid getting messy there was a serious challenge. I even tried to leave a few times but due to an issue with my school I had to stay for quite a few years. Getting messy there was encouraged but still the idea of the sensory overload was too much so I always opted out and it served me well for years.

What intrigues me is afterwards when my luck ran out and I eventually got gunged. Because it was done to me by a different scout group, I just pretended as if it never happened and went back to trying to avoid getting messy whenever possible. Not so much gunged, but as a young boy I was very active in the scouts, and I often got "messy" so to speak at camps and events. I remember being at a camp when I was 8 years old and seeing all the other boys sliding down the hill, head to toe in mud, but I felt I couldnt do that for fear of my mum getting angry. I also remember having cold baked beans poured over my head during a sixth form team building exercise and wishing "oh if only I could be wearing something better than this, but people might think I'm weird for wanting to change my clothes before the pouring"

Now that I'm older, I look back and wish I had understood this fetish from an earlier age, and then maybe I could have enjoyed those moments better, not been afraid, or not try to suppress those feelings. But hey, thats the beauty of hindsight!

I remember there being a lot of muddy adventures when I was in the scouts too but again I opted to stay out of it. When I finally did get gunged I remember wishing the exact opposite and wished I didn't have to get my clothes messy (albeit it was just my uniform which was a navy polo shirt and joggers) but I was already tied up so nothing I could do about it.

I very much agree with you about wishing I understood the fetish at the time. I would always try to watch any of the messy game shows and such when I was young but I would change the channel if I heard someone coming so no one would see me watching it. Yeah I also tried my best to avoid any situation that might involve me getting gunged. That's actually one of the main reasons I tried to leave the scouts to begin with. I wouldn't say getting messy was a big thing with them as such. If you were were out on a hike or something and you wanted to get wet or messy they had no issues with it and would near enough encourage you to do so but in terms of getting gunged or pied etc it was more down to the individual in charge. Our scout group had around 10 people who could be in charge any given week. 2 of them were male and any time they were in charge literally all we did was play football or PlayStation. There was one women there who always had these competitions and she pretty much always gave a messy forfeit, however these people very rarely took charge as it was usually between the same 2 women every week, they sometimes dished out gungings but not very often. It was more for charity/fundraiser events sorta thing.

In terms of the fear of seeing others get gunged. I got it but also didn't. I feared men getting gunged but only cos I'm male and I could then see myself in that situation and as I said I did everything I could to avoid even the idea of getting messy or wet. However I loved seeing women get gunged. One of my earliest hindsight memories of it being a fetish was about a week or two after my first gunging, I was watching Live and Kicking and saw Katherine Merry getting gunged and it really did things to me.
