The sixteenth Bristol Splunch will take place on Saturday, 22nd August 2015 from 2:00pm - 7:00pm in Horts Bar, 49 Broad Street, Bristol, BS1 2EP, and for those who are still peckish/thirsty later at some eatery/watering hole elsewhere in or near the city. This is a vanilla meet; all over 18 from anywhere are welcome, and entry is free - I might even buy your first drink.
What is it? A Bristol Splunch is the sploshers' version of a BDSM munch. It's a 'vanilla' pub social meet - drink, chat, meet'n'greet, listen, learn, advise, offer opinions, discuss substances, etc, make friends, maybe arrange a session. This is usually followed by a meal in the evening, and an outdoor mud session the following day; always subject to the bl**dy weather.
If I can answer any more questions, I'll be delighted to help; and in any event to welcome you to the Splunch.
How do I get there? Broad Street is about twenty minutes walk from Bristol Temple Meads railway station, easily accessible from almost anywhere in the country, and there are several car parks nearby. From the railway station exit, turn right along Temple Gate to the roundabout, cross over onto Victoria Street, continue over the river bridge into High Street, and bear gently left into Broad Street as High Street turns to the right into Wine Street. Horts Bar is about one hundred yards down on the right. From the bus/coach station, exit onto Whitson Street, left into Lower Maudlin Street, cross Lewins Mead to Rupert Street and turn right. After about two hundred yards, turn left into Christmas Street, cross Quay Street and through the stone archway into Broad Street. Horts Bar is about fifty yards up on the left.
For those driving, at the bottom of the M32/Newfoundland Street, turn right onto Bond Street, take the first exit at the roundabout into The Haymarket, turn left into Bridewell Street, left into Nelson Street, right into Halifax Street and into the multi-storey on All Saints' Street - only 5 for the whole day, and closer than any other one. Please note that many roads in Bristol are subject to a 20mph speed limit; the mayor, who introduced the limit, has already been caught speeding. To get to the bar, from All Saints' Street, turn right into Pithay, right into Tower Lane, left into Newmarket Avenue, and right onto Broad Street - the bar is a few yards down on the right. (Politically correct notice - other car parks are available in Bristol.)
For those flush enough (or subsidised) flying into Bristol (Lulsgate) Airport, take the 331 bus service to the bus/coach station and proceed as above from there.
Hotels - the usual chains are readily available: Premier Inn, Haymarket (next to the bus station, approx  mile - from 95); Premier Inn, King Street (approx  mile - full); Hotel Ibis, Temple Quay (approx  mile - from 104); Hotel Ibis, Anchor Road (approx  mile - full); Travelodge, Anchor Road (approx  mile - from 99); Travelodge, Mitchell Lane (approx  mile - from 85); Holiday Inn Express (approx  mile - from 103); Holiday Inn (approx 1 mile - from 90); Novotel, Victoria Street (approx  mile - from 109); and Mercure Brigstow (approx  mile - from 105). For those hotels that are not available for Saturday only, rooms seem to be readily available for two-night stays, either Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday nights at very reasonable rates. Other hotels are available - check laterooms.com or similar sites, or check the out-of-town hotels from the above chains.
Dinner - please let me know if you'd like to stay for dinner on Saturday evening; it's likely to be Chinese.
I'll be hoping to do an outdoor mud shoot on the Sunday (always subject to the bl**dy weather and availability of models and sober drivers), but I'll have to see how I feel much nearer the time.
If you have any further questions, post them here or pm me.
I am working in Bristol that weekend & staying over Fri -Sun. Not available during the day but am hoping to attend Saturday evening. Chinese & a few beers sounds good!
Barring hell and high water I'm hoping to be there, & with my other half . Will both be staying for evening meal and will have transport (nudge, nudge wink. wink) #iftheweatherplaysball
Will be there for this, Hayley hasn't been too well so it will be down to how she is feeling nearer the time as to wether she joins me. Touch wood, I should have a new consignment of Natrosol, but its looking like I need to take a whole pallet load (1000kg) so not 100% sure but if it comes off I will have gunge if anybody is after some.
I will be there , Please everyone if you can attend it is really good everyone is friendly & discreet. Mike & I have looked at a few muddy spots & they look very good ! Hopefully weather permitting on Sunday

Praying to every omnipotent being as we speak lol!!!:ohbruther:
Phew.. managed to get a decent hotel room even though we only just remembered to book up. Looking forward to seeing everyone again (and meeting newcomers!) xx
Love to attend, but i report back to work that weekend.. and you're on the wrong side of the pond.. ( well, from my point of view) maybe next year. Be great to get one organized for the US Canada crowd
Apologies, we're not going to be able to make this one, Hayley has been in hospital. For those of you who had asked me to bring gunge for you, you can order it directly at

For the first-timers nervous of asking strangers in a bar if they are the 'custard folk', there'll be a map and a light bulb (private joke) on the table, right at the front of the bar by the door where we have an area reserved for us.
There's room for more, and places still available for dinner.
I fondly remember my first (and so far only) attendance at the Splunch last year. I cant make it this year because of my American owned supermarket but I can say that Mike is a very friendly and accommodating bloke. I thoroughly enjoyed speaking to him - largely because like one of the other posters above, I was too anxious to speak to the gunge legend Ms Custard. I didn't want to make a prat of myself and get barred from ever going to the messy palace
New people you have nothing to fear...except being caught nude and covered in mud by onlookers on Sunday....
Never mind the probables or possibles, the actuals were: -
Mike Nomic DungeonMasterOne Henry Wilcox Candy Custard Jelly'n'Custard Mr J'n'C Custard Tart Guest0. Falkor Messy Jojo Malcolm Fridgebloke
I'd like to say a big thank you to all who came to the meet, the diehards, the occasional visitors, and the Bristol newbies alike, and I hope you all enjoyed yourselves; I think I got to chat to everyone, if only briefly. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible, especially returning newbies, at future Bristol Splunches.
Talking of which, the dates for your diary for next year are 21st May and 20th August, and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible there.
.....although mud is the mess of choice in Bristol it would be fab if someone had a location to host a pies and natrasol mess-up See you next year hopefully
Sorry this is a bit late (:ohno but just want to thank Mike et al for another great Splunch! Malcolm thought you were all wonderful and will be joining the group of regulars Great to see you all xxx
