Between the PornHub Pirates and the producers that spam release 8+ videos every other week I can no longer continue filming videos. Yall tore the asshole out of amatuer WAM video community. Have fun with the stagnant market. I'm done. Peace.
Very sorry to hear this, as I loved many of your videos, but it is understandable. Will you leave your existing videos up in your UMD store, or are you taking those down?
Unfortunately this has hit a lot of producers over the past year or 2. We stopped filming a couple of years back as the market is just so saturated at the moment. Even the sessions market has been saturated. We get quite a few requests for customs and sessions but can't justify filling the tank with the market so saturated. We refurbished our overhead Gunge Tank with new acrylic and paint etc. But with so many other producers using Gunge Tanks now even the niche market is saturated. We had hoped to do the odd Gunge Tank film but are now quitting with that so likely to put it on Wbay at some point. It's sad, but for producers overheads are too high for the sales. For fans, yes, lots of choice but eventually many other producers will quit.
I'm sorry to hear that you are closing up shop. The tar and feather video was excellent as well as both pie virgin videos along with the mud/clay video you did. Olivia was one of my favorite models from your site and I'll miss seeing new material from your catalogue in the future Thank you for your contributions to our community
Sorry to see you go Big Sam. I have been so close to quitting this business a few times and during my illness it deffo seemed the way I was going, with 10 years of work down the drain. Mike analysed the business and pointed out straighaway in a cold logical way it just didn't pay for itself if I gave in to customers/cheap prices that were asked for. He said the ONLY way to survive was to just be honest and to answer every enquiry with a breakdown of the costs re. mess/room prep/costs etc and they must pay those costs PLUS a decent wage for me. It has resulted in most customers being surprised at the expenses incurred and they are happy to pay those costs. Then they either accept the amount I charge or they don't. Most do accept it now. Those who don't I don't mind losing. So educating them as to true costs has enabled me to survive. I'm ditching the website so there aren't going to be 500 film on tap anymore. I'm using UMD instead and offering much less in available films. IIt is amazing though that some customers seem to think every producer has a gunge tank in the house filled with everlasting gunge that cost nothing and I'll be perfectly happy to trash a nice outfit for free etc Good luck in whatever you do anyway! Jessie
Thanks for all you've done, Sam. I always found you were a very unique and genuine alternative to the "sit in front of a flat wall, get fed your lines, take the pies" masses - and that's not even a knock on those who shoot that way. It works, it's good, and it's fun.
But your stuff was a really cool alternative. Thanks again.

I'm glad you said this, because I think not enough producers bring this problem to light, for fear of backlash.
We all know who these producers are, and how they also shamelessly bump their threads often weeks later to clog the forum or find ways to glom onto popular threads that have nothing to do with them, all to the detriment of reasonable producers like you who have the courtesty to play by the rules. It's a shame.

This has been one of the biggest problems. Most producers seem to aim at 2 or 3 a month which seems fine. As soon as you saturate the market with so many films it does clog the forum and some good films just get lost amongst the "spam" films. If you are producing your own films with your wife girlfriend etc. or are a model producing your own scenes then its cheap and east to just flood the market with your own films. Producers paying models just cannot do this or would not want to do this as it would be economic suicide. There are a lot of fantastic producers out there who have either slowed down production or have virtually stopped. Maybe in years to come the tide will change but hey ho.
ShinyLycra said: The only measure for how fantastic a producer is is how well their productions sell.
It is a dog eat dog world and very simply a lot of it comes down to evolve or die.
Some people will now jump up and down saying how rude that is but it's the truth and no amount of jumping up and down is going to change that.
I'm sat firmly on the fence about lots of updates from the same producers being spammed. There's nothing wrong with them showing their new updates, the real reason threads drop off the bottom of the page is because no one is replying to them. Updates from producers who update less frequently stand out more than ones from those who're posting loads and loads and loads.
Producers can dig their heals in and blame their lack of sales on everyone else from other producers to joe public who isn't buying their productions or they can look for ways to keep up with the competition and do things better.
I notice you say nothing about the producers who shoehorn themselves into any and all popular threads, even for the most tangential of reasons? I suppose that is justified in your opinion, as is a producer purposely waiting until a thread goes dormant before suddenly deciding it's a good time to respond even though the producer had logged in several times in the interim? Yes - some videos don't sell because the quality just isn't there, but others truly and undeservedly get lost in the shuffle because of spam-happy producers who stop at nothing to flood the forums to the virtual exclusion of any competitive offerings.
ShinyLycra said: You mean they were producing stuff that no one was interested in?
The people who're not buying their stuff aren't to blame.
No one is to blame it was an observation. Just think it's harsh blaming a mindset when it's out of their hands
No one is to blame at all, its more that there is just so much material out there now compared to 5 or 6 years ago. The move from producers making films because they wanted to and it was their thing over to more commercial producers who have no interest in WAM themselves is also clear. This is great for fans but less so for producers who still want to produce material they enjoy rather than to make money. This has never been my day job nor ever will be. When we had the studio our aim was to cover costs, which it did for many years. Other producers may not make money but love making their style of film, personally I think thats just as important as making your millions.

I'll be sorry to see you go. I really like your work and I think I have more than half of your current videos, and I (provided your shop is still open) fully intend to buy a few more once money permits. You've got great style and a good eye.
I admit I did see one of your videos on Pornhub but having seen it that's one of the reasons I now want to buy it. I hope you change your mind and keep making the odd film.
With regards to Pornhub piracy, it is entirely possible to request takedowns of videos that you have ownership of in that website.
I know a Japanese WAM paint production house (which videos are far harder to acquire because they're incredibly expensive) who politely posted a takedown request in the comments section of one of their videos. Since then every attempt to reupload that production house's videos by were met with speedy removals. If you can locate your stolen videos (which is a chore in itself because many uploaders usually post incredibly vague titles), it is still possible to totally prevent pirate uploads of your stuff from staying up.

It seems every other thread I click on the forum nowadays is an advertisement for a video that I saw or purchased months/years ago. I have no issue with a producer releasing 8 videos in a week, I just get sick of seeing producers spam old content as if it's brand new. It really dilutes the forum and makes it hard to weed through and get to the new content I might actually want to purchase.
Oh, and another good one is producers that "go out of business" 2-3 times a year. They spam their content and tell everyone "this is your last chance to buy our stuff! My store is closing and we're leaving WAM for good!" to create a rush on their content, then come back a week after the "closing" date and tell us how they missed it/we talked them into staying and they decided to keep producing content.
I'd really hate to see you go! I love the style of your video where your models just get slathered with thick frosting and pretty much shampoo their hair with it. Big fan of your vids!

Why do we as a community keep pointing to the producers to do the scanning of these site's. I to follow some of these site's as a user, and try to report the postings to the rightfull owner. Why can't we all? There will always be scumbags posting these vids online, we as a comunity can do something about it by not just ignore these sites but start fighting as a whole, and help those producers!! If they stop making video's and pictures we won't be getting any new stuff.
I hope you'll find a way to make occasional videos BigSam... even if just for fun and community. Money blows. I hate the shit. Best of luck with whatever happens here!
Sorry to see you bow out Sam. Your videos are among my favorites from the UMD storefront (ESPECIALLY the video with Olivia taking those 30 stupidly thick pies. :loveeyes.
Bizarrely enough, I've had a brush with PornHub uploading recently and I haven't even sold my videos yet - a while ago, a UMD member made a video file from gifs I created of one of my scenes and posted it on one of my threads, and evidently someone actually uploaded it to PornHub as a private video (thanks to those who messaged me about that btw). While it doesn't really affect me since it's a collection of material I already decided to share freely (it's flattering, if anything), it certainly gives me pause when I think about the prospect of selling our videos someday...
Hey, BigSam! There is only one way out of this business, and I don't need to tell you what that is. We need to collaborate on something this year. I've got a new camera and decent camera skilz, and you've got the brains.
