Buy SlapstickStuff a drink, because he (she? they? it??) is finally legal drinking age!
On Saturday, April 24, 2004, I checked into an extremely cheap motel ($30 a room??), laid down WAY too much plastic dropcloth (while somehow neglecting to protect the air-conditioning ducts), set up a newly purchased "high-end" camcorder (it shot on DV tape at 480p!!)... and a VHS camcorder from the 80s that had to be jerry-rigged to a separate VCR since it could no longer record.
Oh yeah. I also made a lot of pies.
I had never hit a person with a pie before, or made a pie to hit a person with before, for that matter. I had never done any kind of professional shoot. I truly had no idea what I was doing. But.... I'd watched a LOT of attempts from others, and talked to a few people who seemed to know what they were doing (thanks Robby and Neil!).... So I figured I'd be okay. And yes, I know that's like saying, "I never performed surgery before, but I watched the entire season of The Pitt." Fortunately, throwing pies is NOT brain surgery. (Also, watch The Pitt.)
As I've said many times before, if Liz had been difficult, or apprehensive, or simply (and rightfully) looked at this cheap-ass motel room with no lights and no backdrops (but tons of pies) and said, "I'm outta here".... Well, SlapstickStuff would've ended on Day 1. Instead, I got lucky, and she turned out to be laidback, easygoing, girl-next-door beautiful... and EXTREMELY patient with me. If she got the sense that I was out of my depth, she was kind enough not to mention it. And a few whirlwind hours later, we were done.
But the journey was just starting, apparently. It's still bizarre and amazing and humbling to know that one fateful Saturday can literally change the rest of your life, but well... Here I am, celebrating the 21st anniversary of this wonderful silliness.
That very first shoot... AKA SS01, or SlapstickStuff Volume 1 to those who originally bought it on VHS (!!).... is now free in my UMD Store and SlapstickStuff.vidown.com. All five scenes, for today only. Just a small way of saying thanks to you, the customers and the community. Twenty-one years.... Who knew!?!?
Congratulations Rich, you've produced one of the greatest bodies of work of any WAM producer ever. Yours was the first time I ever bought a WAM scene (if I recall I mailed you physical cash and you mailed me the scenes on DVD all the way from the US!). Your work was also what I selected to show my wife when I was trying to explain my WAM fetish to her. You have always captured the fun and silliness of WAM perfectly, and the branching out into a bit of playful nudity in recent years has been a welcome bonus. Hope you'll be having a drink to celebrate this milestone anniversary.
Many congratulations Rich! We shoot very different stuff but both started at around the same time (my earliest scenes were also on miniDV tape!), well done for keeping going all these years
A wonderful achievement Rich. I don't know how you manage to attract so many beautiful girls to get messy but may you continue for many years. And those pies are amazing.
Thank you Rich, for all the good work you have done, and thank you for reminding me I'm getting old(I guess I was 26 when I started buying your stuff) The good old days.
21 years. You have had an amazing run, and your material has ballooned into an extremely sizable collection. Top notch stuff, Rich. The very first pie that you hit Liz with-- her somewhat subdued, look of surprise, followed by a "Thanks," that sounded like she was amused--what a top-notch reaction for the first time you ever did this. I definitely took you up on your offer and downloaded all five of those scenes. If there is ever a Mount Rushmore of WAM producers, your face will definitely be on it. Keep up the good work.
21 years, and I'd argue the icon keeps getting better. Can't wait to see what you have in store for SS300!
Rich, you're an inspiration, and your 'humble roots' story confirms it. I think all of us started with a lot of enthusiasm, very little knowledge, and a very patient first model haha.
You're a WAM legend, sir. I've bought several videos from you and will continue to do so because I know I'm getting a funny WAM filled experience. Thank you for the wonderful videos and I look forward to see what the future holds for SlapstickStuff.
I remember when I discovered your site many moons ago. If memory serves me correctly, it was just when you started using slime. Your work is exactly what I showed my then girlfriend to give her an idea of what WAM was. I own a fairly sizeable collection of your work and was never disappointed.
I enjoy our sometimes long winded phone calls, and how we frequently go on side quests away from the original topic of the conversation. Also, your picture in my phone will forever be Matthew McConaughey.
I'm not sure if you got another 21 years in you, but it'd be a lot cooler if you did.

Rich!!! Thanks so much for what you did early and what you do now!! You were my first ever purchase for dvds! It's been an awesome journey! Thanks for the content and the silliness
Happy 21!!! You can vote! This is quite an accomplishment. Not many people these days make it to 15 let alone 21. I hope you are doing something to celebrate!!
It's funny how the tech has changed. From VHS to DVD because about this time you'd start downloading at 8am, go to work, and hope you'd have a pop video by the time you'd come home.
And also the entry level. Like the music industry. Everyone has a recording studio in their pocket which means everyone can do their own thing. That's not however necessarily a good thing. There's no filter or quality control with music, which means everything has devolved to a grey goo of music, all very samey solo artists. Similarly I miss this old-school girl-next-door look; so much of it seems to default to X-rated for the Onlyfans market. And without the scripting or the editing.
But I loved Liz. Pressed so many buttons for me. SS40 is one of my favourites.
