I started with an Xbox One and liked it but there's way too many PS4 exclusives that make it a better console. Persona 5, God of War, Dragon Quest, Tales of series, and a ton more.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is a great PS4 exclusive. Sounds like a hokey premise/name, but turns out it's a classic.
Also, gotta say no to PC gaming. I played Witcher 3 on my gaming computer and it was pretty slow. PC gaming requires a lot of money to keep up with graphics upgrades. If you live in San Francisco and are poor then you definitely won't have the scratch to become a PC edgelord who's out to pwn all the n00bs.

Loved Horizon. I was an x-box owner for a while, I had the original, and 360, and then I decided on PS4 because I really wanted to play Spider-Man. I've played Spider-Man, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Last of Us, Diablo 3, Doom, Dying Light, Handsome Jack collection (Borderlands 2 and Borderlands the pre-sequel), and the re-mastered Borderlands. Liked all those games! I also tried Monster Hunter World, which I just couldn't get into. I have God of War 4 too, I haven't played it yet, I keep going back to the Borderlands games, I'm addicted to those, which is the only reason I haven't played more games, and with the 3rd one coming out in September, I probably won't be getting into too many other games either, shame on me.
I've had a PS4 for like 5 years now and it hasn't broke or let me down once so it's good stuff. My brothers got an Xbox and it seems fine but it only seems good for backwards compatibility since PS4 has better exclusives.

I mean, it doesn't take much, let alone the most cutting edge technology to out do a PS4.
I present exhibit A, the real reason I am "Potatoman"
If all you want is a cheap console to play the newest games id suggest a 2nd hand basic ps4. The controllers with the original xbox one consoles are cheap crap as are the microphones and they are both really expensive to replace (i learned the hard way). Dont fall for the 4k thing, people spend more than i would on a car to be able to game in 4k and even then they get drops in framerate which is way more important.
Although, have you read about the problem with the joycons. It's a pretty big issue.
A quiet revision some time back fixed the drifting problem for the most part, if you bought one recently you shouldn't run into this issue.
Sadly, this is not the case with my brother's. Nintendo is FINALLY addressing the issue with borked consoles, but he'll have to send it away which sucks.
Depends on what you want to play, the PS4 exclusives are sweet , but I can't justify buying one just for a hand full of games , So my gaming PC is what I use. I run a gaming mother board , with an i5 processor, 16 Gigs of ram, 5 hard drives, two internal 3 external, and a Nividia 960 graphics card. I run windows on a solid state and I have a 500gb caviar blue inside as well, out side i have 3 western digital pass ports totaling 5 Terabytes of space , its not the best but it does just fine. I also run a tri screen setup . Its a budget build but does just fine.
