Another WWE botch mess up. This week on Monday night raw. Maryse was meant to be caked in the face and made a complete mess of it. Another missed opportunity like with Mandy Rose. The caking was terrible unfortunately.
Is this a coincidence you think or do the women just dont want to do the WAM aspect of it?
I remember when Lana was caked she did absolute brilliant job of it when she got caked.
Aye she's been messy i think twice before so its not that. She actually tried to save it by rubbing some on her off camera it looks like but the cake itself was shite and wouldnt give much coverage even if it was the correct shape and positioning.
Ah well its the fed so wait 4 more months for a 50/50 chance of a decent slapstick segment. Now vince is kaput chances are slightly less likely
I was told once by someone who worked for the old WWF that when a gag goes wrong, you can usually blame the prop folks.
They sometimes really have difficulty making messy enough cakes and pies...and then again sometimes they don't. And sometimes it's the people themselves who aren't "doing it right."
I often wonder if they have some kind of prop list that says "To make cakes for good smooshing...use these ingredients." And it wouldn't surprise me if they do.
But the bigger problem is that they show just how difficult it is to do a messy scene/gag.
Someone asked me not too longer if we ever had to "cleanup and reshoot" a pie scene.
And we only had to do that once....when the cool whip was still too cold too stick to a models face. We eneded up using hairdryers on the tubs of cool whip to soften them up. No microwave in the room where we shot that one video. The nerve of that hotel!
In one of the scenes with Dana where she got particularly covered with everything, I told her at the end..."I didn't like that take...let's reshoot it." You have never seen a woman flip the double bird so fast.
The WWE has my contact info. Not sure why they don't use it.
But seriously.... Cakes are notoriously tricky. I've got a formula now but there are still times where they don't work out "perfect." I'd like to think the WWE follows a proven regimen, but more than likely they send an intern to the grocery store to grab a cake with the right proportions and don't think beyond that. Which is how you get the results you saw in that clip.

This for sure. As someone who works in pro wrestling (albeit at a more local independent level) I can tell you if you're wondering how these operations work, it's "fast and loose." Combine that with the fact that the average non-WAM layperson is apt to believe from movies that any store-bought cake or lemon meringue pie is likely to splatter and stick in the same way. Bless them for continually trying, though!
MessyMaestro said: Mess in WWE goes two ways; absolute classic (Trish / Stacy in the mud, Stephanie McMahon in pudding) or absolute fail (this).
There is no in-between.
Ha i was thinking that earlier. I think having a flater cake like when sunny got caked actually works better than the one they used in this segment. I remember there was also a poor caking in aew for penelope ford but then a excellent caking for nyla rose. So it really does seem to be pot luck

Only once, thank goodness. After filming "Can It!" at the house of one of the models, I drive home 4 hours and found that all the footage of AJ's revenge after she's locked in the messy trash can had to be reshot.
Luckily for me, they were great sports about it abd had almost as much fun the second time as they did the first, so it really just cost me driving time and half a shoot's worth of pies and cake batter.
