So for context, both of my Cruella threads were deleted. These threads, by the way, did not exactly take an insignificant amount of time to compose and respond to. The first time I understand, fair enough and my mistake, totally get it. The second time though, show me the sentence(s) in particular that gave it cause for deletion, please. The reason I was given came off as nothing short of relative and subjective with no concrete evidence included. Where was the part that said I was looking for other people to join me in a custom? The entire second thread was completely scrubbed of any and all suggestion of it.
So this begs my question, what is actually the purpose of this site? And I'm actually serious in my curiosity, not trying to be a troll here.
Nothing in my second thread suggested crowdfunding a custom. No one even DM'd me about it. But, let's rewind back to my first one. Let's say I was for argument's sake to add context for my question here. The rules don't permit crowdfunding because "people have gotten taken advantage of." Alright, fair enough, but shouldn't that be up to people involved as consenting adults? What's to stop individual custom seekers from having the same happen to them? In fact, when I first joined this site whenever that was years ago I actually did approach a custom producer who ran off with my money. So much for verification.
Also, not gonna name names, but there is currently a crowdfunded custom in the works as we speak that used this site to garner interest, but that one gets to stay up? You've got an active thread next door to mine that's having an actual political debate over pieing Lauren Boebert lol I mean come on. Since when did this site become a subreddit? If I post a thread simply showcasing the work of an indie film company that's open to creating wam content that people can potentially look into and nothing else, will that get deleted too?
I guess I'm looking for some clarification on what the point of this site is before I get banned or delete my profile, whichever comes first.
If there is someone on here crowdfunding and your posts are being taken down, consider the source. Take your question to MM specifically that way you can point to specifics without being public about it and request a justification for one post to stay up and another post not to. MM has been extremely fair in my dealings with him in the past. I have no reason to believe that the same is not still true. You will find all kinds of discussions on this site about all kinds of topics. Some are more heated than others. But in the simplest terms with the most efficient definition, this is an adult site where people get together to jerk off to WAM content and discuss WAM content. There are pretty clear rules and I would say to give them a look and avoid anything that appears to be connected to violating the rules. Don't use code words to try and skirt the rules. The rules are the rules.
When I first discovered this site in 2002 I was excited and not just because of the awesome and unique content posted here. This wam community and the people in it helped ease and normalize my perception of myself and my fetish. I didn't feel like a huge weirdo anymore but instead felt accepted, even though I was a lurker at the time and wasn't fully interacting. Things were constantly changing in my personal life and it wasn't until 2010 when I finally created an account and started posting but the whole time from the beginning up to this point I find UMD to be a safe haven for something that I really enjoy. I'm grateful for those who share content of themselves here for our viewing pleasure and and thankful for being accepted as my true, vulnerable but empowered self in this community of wammers.
I'm the one who deleted your messages and it didn't feel good doing it. It seems like you had a fun project that you were putting together and some people might have loved to take part in it. But like you said we've had problems with crowdfunding projects in the past, where bunches of our community members got taken advantage of. I'm sure you're legit, but as a matter of policy I don't know of any other way to protect our users other than not allowing people to solicit money for content that doesn't exist yet. I couldn't just let that keep happening and then say tough luck to the victims every time it happens.
This situation does still happen with customs sometimes, even though you've got to be approved with a good history and actual content on display to be allowed to offer them here. But the issues with that are nowhere near as bad as someone showing up, taking dozens of people's money, and then dropping off the face of the Earth.
I thought that your second post was saying the same thing just reworded, and if that's the case then I apologize. And if you do see any other crowdfunding for a custom, pleas flag it and it'll come right to me. By the way, I locked that Boebert thread
I sometimes think my sworn duty is to fondle myself to things other people find totally ridiculous. To celebrate my 25 years or so on UMD, I feel MM should run a montage of me stroking my fuck pickle to clown themed messy scenes while sentimental Gordon Lightfoot ballads play.
In my spare time, I like thrash metal and videogames.
So this begs my question, what is actually the purpose of this site? And I'm actually serious in my curiosity, not trying to be a troll here.
It's to have a download store for people to buy the messy videos. Theres also the wetlook people and their stuff. Customs are kinda just between people vecause the site doesn't take a cut. I think yours got locked for being too close to the forbidden crowdfunding concept.
My first thoughts on reading the opening post is that most of us use the site for free and, because of that, we can't exactly get angry because we don't like the rules, or because those behind the site aren't comfortable with people posting certain things.
I view this in exactly the same way as people (famous and not famous) who are accusing Facebook or Twitter of "cancelling" them. Stupid, juvenile term, I might add. But Facebook and Twitter are platforms owned by others, and there is no charge to use them. There is no God-given right that people can have an account there, or can say whatever they want on those platforms. They both have rules, as does UMD, and we as users are expected to follow them.
What I'm trying to say in as respectful a way as possible is that, if people don't like the rules, they can leave and go elsewhere.
