I guess this is aimed at the not so young ones of us who didn't have the internet until we were at least 18 and weren't aware of WAM. I wonder if there were any stand out moments in TV shows that you always enjoyed as a fan of mess (not specifically messy game shows which I think were pretty decisive for all of us). I think for many of us, there was the great race pie fight, and for me, the food fight at the end of Carry On Loving, but these were movies that were able to be purchased on video, and watched repeatedly. The thing about TV was it was often fleeting and some of the scenes are only being rediscovered now, or may have been lost to history already. It may be that the most defining moment in the discovery of your fetish was a one time only deal! For me it was a moment in the live action sequences at the end of Supermario Bros cartoon where Daisy sat on a cake.... Seen once and never again. One moment I remembered today was this mud scene from the TV adaptation of Anne of Green Gables. What's yours? And has it been lost to time, or can you post a clip?

Being a child of the '70's I grew up on Three Stooges piefights, the Little Rascal's piefight, Three's Company piefight, reruns on tv movie night of the Great Race piefight. being a tween and teen of the '80's it was female mud wrestling, mud wrestling on a cable rerun of Stripes and the shower scene from Porky's.

Then I snuck a peek at my Uncle's Playboy and saw the PLaymate Playoff pictorial of 1983 and sexy nude WAM was my thing!

Gotta say a wonderful TV memory was around when I was 9 years old. It was on Fox Family channel back in the early millennium/late nineties. They went up to this random attractive woman I Bet You Will style and convinced her to pour milk and pancake batter in her trousers, and then cherry pie filling on top of her head. Showed her walking away afterwards too...aggh how I wish someone would randomly have a VHS of it-to this day I remember seeing the batter overflow out of the top of her pants as they poured the milk in.

I was really first exposed to it when I saw Double Dare and WWYD on Nickelodeon. This was an experience I only ever got when I was on vacation somewhere as we had nothing but analog aerial broadcast TV until I was about 18, when my folks finally decided they were tired of the TV snowstorm every time there was an electrical storm during the summer. :ohbruther:

Through puberty there were three scenes I still remember clearly: the first was an episode of Jerry Springer in the summer of 1996. Two half-sisters did a striptease act where they jumped into a bathtub full of whipped cream and slid all over each other, then at the end of the show one of the hotter audience members had a crush on one of the security guys and dared him to get into the tub with her, where they proceeded to cover each other. I was off school for summer vacation so I managed to tape this one and I had it on VHS for many years, but repeated replays wore the tape out and shredded it. I have NEVER seen this clip appear anywhere on the web or on any of the Jerry Springer clip tapes that have come out over the years. I suspect this one may be lost for good.

The second scene I caught completely randomly one fall evening, 1997ish, of a somewhat famous lady on Entertainment Tonight doing a photoshoot covered in mud. The coverage by today's standards was weak but the woman was very playful with it and seemed to find the feel of the mud interesting and a bit erotic rather than revolting. I had just bought an AOL account for the first time about seven months before this and I remember screen captures of it popping up on one of the WAMSAT sites, might have been Messy Chris' Art of Mudplay, if anyone remembers that. Haven't seen it since.

The third and final scene was the Stripes mud wrestling club which I caught very late at night while working a summer job up on Cape Anne in Massachusetts. This was the first time I'd ever seen it and it certainly struck a chord.

Ah, thanks sir! And I remember those early "Slime Time" segments between shows... Saturday nights, right? One time I turned it on and this REALLY cute Nick girl was getting covered in slime... Epic stuff. But of course too late for me to grab a VHS tape and start recording! I keep hoping these segments will pop up one day on YouTube.

And yes, I pattern my slime after the thick stuff... AKA the best slime Nick ever used. The stuff they use now is so thin, it might as well be colored water.

All the usual ones of course, like WWYD and YCDTOTV. I also remember the scene from Teen Wolf Too where a flying bowl of dip landed square on a pretty blonde's head and face, as well as the ice cream scene with Bess Armstrong from the movie Second Sight, a horrible movie also starring John Laroquette and Bronson Pinchot. Great facial coverage of Bess in a nun's habit taking what amounted to a pretty legit green sliming.

It's weird, and maybe a bit off-topic but reading these responses I suddenly realised that a lot of the shows and acts that had slapstick elements in them were shows that I otherwise absolutely despised - almost without exception: Crackerjack, anything with Noel Edmunds or Jim Davidson, anything with clowns, GYOB, Sooty, even, dare I say it, Tiswas. It's as if I was both repulsed and fascinated at the same time. Especially when men were involved. I HATED it. That's probably why it developed into a fetish. Also, I think it's why I find that I hate the idea of actually participating in WAM and am strictly into watching it, in private. The anonymity of the internet allows me to indulge it but I'm really not into going to Splunches etc. Very mixed feelings about the whole genre.

For me, it was Double Dare, if you couldn't tell. But, also growing up in the 90s, I was a fan of WWYD, Wild n Crazy Kids, and Figure It Out.

There are a couple of old WAM scenes I did manage to capture on VHS... Will have to transfer and upload them some time. They include a pie in the face for 'Melissa' on a TV show called Only Joking, which I used to play on slowmo over and over!

But in 1982 or 1983 (can't recall which year), there was this old short film done by HBO, showing behind the scenes footage of this skit, where you see an old woman, and she's played by a very attractive young woman.

She was in makeup, and this short film showed the makeup process, including her getting slathered with alginate, for her lifecast.

While I agree with the posters above that You Can't is comedic cornball, I have to put in a word in defense of it. I actually think the jokes were oddly subversive for the time (pre-Simpsons). The show constantly spoofed the idiocy of adults. I would probably be a lot more deferential to mindless authority if it hadn't been a part of my life.

Oh, another thing. There was also this awful sitcom called Out of This World that had an episode that I remember loving (though in retrospect coverage wasn't great)...

I've been told the late 70's and the "variety show" era were better for pies on mainstream TV, but growing up in the 80's wasn't too bad either. Besides all the NICK shows, you'd get the random pie or messy scene on a variety of shows... Fame, Family Matters, Perfect Strangers, Growing Pains, etc etc.

For me, it was the Vicky Victory pie scenes on GLOW. I've never been able to find them in decent quality on youtube.

I don't think they were ever out there in great quality, but an old Hurley tape had (I believe) all of them collected. Some fantastic stuff there.

Of all the amazing gunge tank clips on Noel's House Party, there was one that really blew my mind, but I've never seen it since despite years of searching. The young woman involved took the place of her little daughter who'd been sitting in the chair when the scene began. What made this gungeing special to me was the way the woman didn't flinch an inch as the dark green goop hit. There was none of the usual leaning forwards which marred a lot of the gungeings. As a result, her long dark hair and her whole face were entirely engulfed. As the last of the goop slid down her face, she opened her eyes wide; the only part of her face uncovered. I'd love to see that again.

One thing that stands out in my memory was what must have been news coverage from the original Woodstock, which occurred around my 7th birthday. I was thrilled with the idea of those people mudsliding in their clothes, and wanted to do that for my birthday. We had a perfect place in our yard, but my mom put a quick stop to that idea.

That might be why I've always been such a clothed-in-the-mud fanatic.

I remember a couple of times when there were various attempts to break the world record for the largest number of pies thrown in a certain time period. That was long before I realised I had a WAM fetish, and I remember feeling very confused about why it turned me on.

I grew up on GYOB and Run the Risk and other gungy gameshows I can't even remember the name of. Then there was a long spell of dry gameshows I could never see why anybody watched, then Pump It Up brought it back, and then... then there was Twister. That was my epiphany moment.

Twister wasn't always gungy, but there was this one game they had where the gunge wasn't a forfeit, or an obstacle, but just its own thing. They had two teams each of one boy and one girl, and in most of the games they'd both be working together to score points, but in this one game the girls were just stood in a pit in the centre, with their feet in fauxcrete blocks, each underneath an industrial hopper full of gunge. The boys would run back and forth with wheelbarrows between a cement mixer and a series of troughs, filling the troughs with gunge from the mixers (shamefully, that gunge never went over anybody, it just counted towards the total volume for their "gungiest gameshow ever" claim) and on the way they could step on (or run over with the barrow) big red buttons that would release gunge over the (I think opposing team's) girls.

The buttons may have scored points along with the troughs, I'm not entirely sure because they never spelled out "the greens have done X much so they have X points," just "the greens have X points," but it looked a lot like they were just incidental, so you had the girls getting repeatedly gunged for basically no reason.

And boy, did I ever love it. I think if I saw it re-created with naked adult women, I'd ascend to heaven there on the spot.

I distinctly remember when I was in middle school that a pie hit to a girl on Mickey Mouse Club did it for me.

Past that it was the Barbara Mandrell pie, Three's Company, Growing Pains pie, Brady Bunch pie fight, etc...
