I was due to have a session yesterday, had planned it out but due to the boots I was going to wear for the session proving a challenge for various reasons and did not want to go barefoot or wear other shoes, it derailed my planned session for another day.
So my question to you is what is your best & worst reason a session did not happen.
My best reason was I was meant to be gunged by work colleagues for our fundraiser, but the outfit & shoes I was wearing were deemed too expensive to meet a messy fate, so it meant I was gunged another day, but in something not so expensive as it were. Found it funny they didn't want to ruin what was an outfit & shoes I had planned for the event in question.
For worst reason, I got asked by someone to do some content, involving my crossdressing, WAM & so forth. I was charged for bringing my own clothes & shoes, charged for the mess & the shoot, despite being told I only had to pay 1 amount as it were. The planned shoot didn't happen as they got another person in & they tried to charge me more money for cancelling. I ended up not paying anything as they were just making excuses after another, even then the shoot proved to not go to plan anyway so didn't lose out.
Was just curious if anything, as know that a lot can go into a session of course & was something I thought be a bit of fun too, as can all learn from each other.

Couldn't you just tell them the outfit was specifically for that and to go ahead? Seems mean of them to deny when you'd dressed specially for it.

??? WTaF??? Charged for bringing your own outfit? That's bonkers. I'd keep well away from anyone operating that way. Sometimes our people want to wear their own clothes instead of dressing from the collection, we check that the outfit is suitable (everyone knows how much I hate low-rise stuff for example) but if it's usable we pay them a little extra for doing so, if we tried to charge they'd rightfuilly tell us to take a running jump.
As to the question, I was once getting wet bit by bit in a shallow river, and taking timer photos. I'd just got as far as sitting in the water when I realised there was a random person walking along the other side, so I quickly switched to just wading along the shallows and photographing the old bridge in the background.
so far I've cancelled 0 times. there have been times in set up it's been obvious things wouldn't work so one or both of us ended
I think the best reason - someone had booked in with me and then later realised it was one of her partners birthdays - oops - so obviously rescheduled with me in order to spend time with him (mind, she subsequently forgot my birthday, which is another story)
worst I was devastated to find a shoot was off because the person had fallen off a horse - partially as this had happened with another meet and the person in the other meet we DID reschedule but it took a long long time for her to return to strength - so I was fretting this person was seriously injured However, I guess, if you are going to lie about the reason - it's probably best not to put updates of what you were up to instead up on twitter throughout the day. I'm not an awful person that doesn't understand "Sorry, I'd forgot about something else I was meant to do" or even "something else I'd rather do"

My work as much as they wanted to gunge me, felt was unfair risking something valuable, was my best suit & heels at the time, so could sort of see why but joys of fundraising I suppose.

Yup was in my uni days, as I was being organised with bringing my own stuff, but didn't know when got there, they were going to charge me if wore their things. I found out through a mutual friend as it were, the organiser was just not interested in having me for a shoot so wanted to go to the extreme to see how keen I was to do a shoot. As much as I was going to be getting messy, didn't feel I'd enjoy as much if they didn't want me after doing those tactics as it were.

That is priceless, I think that is something you have to be wary in that situation as you look out for everything.
The one that springs to mind for me (best or worst - take your pick!) was when I was heading out to my favourite muddy venue and a giant under-tray blew off a lorry that was going past me on the motorway and struck the front of the car, smashing a lamp cluster and denting the bonnet. That then made me quite late. (It was already evening.)
When I finally got to my venue, the field with the muddy pond that I use was full of cows that wouldn't leave me alone to get on with it, so I had no option but to go back home.
Not exactly a session, but I had to cancel my Chicago trip recently because of a massive combination of shit all at once. Gas had jumped a huge degree (flights followed suit). Work was being a jerk and fighting over the days off, and some other things.

I DONT KNOW if this person lied to you or not---i also dont know the situation but always remember---if it was someone who does this for their living? or is on twitter promoting themselves? Ive had things happen with me but i have to act like all is well while putting out my content. Ive had people say to me "well I saw you just got messy with (insert name here) bc you posted the video but you cant do my custom?" i had to explain "i shot that video 2 months ago and just released it....I am at home, in my bed with strep throat and covid, releasing videos" i HOPE TO GOD she didnt LIE ABOUT FALLING OFF A HORSE! bc i can tell you, I grew up and still my home, is a farm and that is a REALLY AWFUL thing to happen! if it REALLY HAPPENED TO HER, i hope she is okay.
but if she just LIED? god thats terrible.
but take it into account. She may have told you what was really going on with her life but kept acting like she was okay on twitter. you know? maybe. im just hoping someone didnt lie to you about something SO HORRIBLE. im trying to have some faith in humanity! if she did really lie about that? god. that is awful and im SO SORRY.
My ailing father has been sick for the past few months and tending to him has caused me to miss out on having potential sessions near where I live in Maryland or heading over to see one of my pie friends in Annapolis but I will havs a session once again once my father's health improves or I finally get a place of my own where if I do want to host a messy session, I would not be interrupted by someone else.

makes us all look bad :/
much love!
I'm uncertain either which way. But; a few months prior there was someone else who I know *did* fall off a horse and was seriously injured and I think was out of action for quite some time - we did meet a lot later and she was still recovering
So when I found out someone else had said the same; I was like - am I a curse that makes people fall off horses?! And was obviously really worried this would happen to the other person
It's every possibility there is a truth half way between the two that she maybe fell off but wasn't seriously injured - but cancelled the shoot as a precaution and then when it got to closer to the time assumed I'd made other arrangements (ironically the producer had booked someone else to shoot with me as a replacement... who had to pull out on the day due to health, but that got rescheduled a couple of weeks later) and done her own thing. I dunno. But, aside from an acknowledgement I sent a "get well gift" I've not actually heard from the other person now in 4 (or 5?!) years But still; plenty of other good folk
