Last night I dreamt about a complicated messy game. It was an affecting dream, and I've been thinking about it ever since I've woken up, which is why I want to talk about it here, to try to get it out of my mind. If anyone's going to be interested, it's likely to be (perhaps 3% of) the people here.
It was in a game show setting, and one thing I can remember about it was that it was definitely described as a game of observation and induction. I believe it was played between two teams of three. People had to choose in which position to sit (from a choice of more than six), and also which box to open (from a choice of nine). Opening a box would lead to one of the positions getting a hefty volume of thick gunge poured over it, probably with someone sitting there. However, the link between the boxes and the positions was not obvious, so there was indeed a degree of observation and memory to it. The team who got gunged least won. There was definitely a variety of colours of gunge used, and I can only suppose there were some other rules as well, perhaps a bit like a drinking game except with gunge instead of drinks.
It's weird because I feel I should have been able to work out what was going on and how to play, and I've spent far too much time thinking about it, or how it might work if it were to be played for real. (Don't say "yes" or "no", don't smile or laugh at yourself or someone on your team getting covered, don't pick a box that has already been picked in that round, don't pick a box that you've picked in a previous round, that sort of thing - all sorts of rules which should be easy to remember, but that you might forget or get confused about when you're overwhelmed by sensation.)
I have a strong suspicion that other people here, who like both complicated games and messy games, will have had dreams at least a bit like that. Perhaps you might care to share them, if they've stuck with you.
I had one about competing on an inflatable bungee run. Back of the run was covered in gunge, with a lot more hanging overhead. Front of the run had a big red button, which retracted your opponent's bungee. Sides of the run had optional messy items near the front to grab and throw into your opponent's lane... assuming the bounceback didn't result in you wearing it first. Time limit ensured both players got retracted into the mess at the back if the button wasn't reached.
There were some more rules which allowed you to lengthen/shorten your bungee and/or rain gunge down over the run- but memory is a bit fuzzy on that.
I had a dream where I was some sort of banquet and they had a fundraiser and the family that raised the most money got on stage and got hit with a slime hose. While we're on the subject of messy dreams, though-
- one where I was watching some sort of fancy gala awards ceremony and the lady who won the award got slimed in her seat, like it just came down from above, except it didn't get anything except what it hit so there was just a two inch wide line of slime from the top of her head down to the bottom of her dress and everywhere else was untouched.
-there was a lever on my family's kitchen counter that said "pull" so I pulled it and then just got this image in my dream head of a lady in a black evening gown getting covered head to toe in what looked like chocolate syrup and then my mom comes downstairs in a t shirt and shorts wiping chocolate syrup off of her face.
-was at Canada's Wonderland and they were having some sort of event where they were baptizing people by pushing them into the pool in front of Wonder Mountain and some lady got baptized in a dress that was basically this, except it had stripes and no slit;
And she got out, got a really nice view of the soaking wet dress, then she knotted it up to like t shirt dress length and jumped back in to keep swimming?
