One of my favorite things to do whenever I'm bored is going to the Wayback Machine and just look at how different sites used to look like 10, 15, 20 years ago. Today, I decided it would be fun to do that with some WAM sites. These next couple of images I took are all from May of 2000, with the exception of the last one, being Slapstickstuff, from July of 2004. Enjoy the pics!
P.S. I love how SlapstickStuff.com still basically looks the same almost 16 years later

Thanks for pointing out that I've made no new updates to the site in 16 years.
LOL.... Part of me knows I need to do a site overhaul, but given that most customers are browsing the download stores now and pulling up individual pages from my site that way, I'm kinda getting away with it. The site does look like crap on a phone tho.
I think my very first shoot was April 2004, so barely 3 months later I already had 7 volumes (and my first returning model). I'd say that's pretty good, considering!

I mean, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The site works for what it needs to do, IMO.

Remember "webrings," which were like a way for websites of a similar nature to link to each other? You click on one site and at the bottom there was a link that would take you to some random other site in the same webring? Didn't there use to be a "WAMring" that connected a bunch of WAM sites? I might be going crazy, but I think that's how I originally found the UMD.
Woah. That sounds weird. I do not have any memories of these when they were like this since I was way to young back in 2000 to be on the internet.

Yes! 2002 just flashed before my eyes. I remember the UMD logo in the original post, and I remember WebRings too. I remember a Saliromania site fromthat WebRing. Crazy Girls as the first site updated on that UMD screencap takes me back too.

I say if it ain't broke, don't fix it! But I could see with modern times why you would want your site looking good on a phone.
These Wayback shots bring back a lot. UMD stands for Ultimate Messy Directory. My memory is pretty much shot from years of abuse, but I remember the site starting as a repository of links to messy sites. want to say that the site first hit in or around 1997. I also remember Shokolada had a website that was similar-- a list of messy websites you could visit. The UMD is a great place. Awesome actually. I have been coming here since it started. Never take it for granted.
Remember Chainsaw John and the Wam Awards? Lots of controversy at the time. Messyfun had an ad banner on there. Some said the awards were fixed, others said they were funded by one of the producers. I suppose we'll never know the truth.
Apparently there was also a 'UMD Messyring' at the time.
I'm really digging these "retro" thread topics here. Really brings me back to a good, simpler time, where WAM was fresh and I was learning I wasnt alone in this world.
It's easy to loose track of time. I remember when those webpages were the best of the best.. especially UMD.
