I started watching Haunted Hathaways to see the many WAM scenes with milf-licious Ginifer King, and found myself - gasp - mildly enjoying the show. Sure - it'll never be confused with Deadwood or The Wire, but the cast goes all in and has some comedic chops, even if it's mostly in working with some pretty corny material.
That got me to wondering whether other UMDers have watched a show or movie for the WAM content, only to find themselves genuinely enjoying what they're viewing enough to keep watching it for reasons beyond hoping to stumble upon WAM scenes. Or did the advent of the fast forward button and WAM alerts/Youtube clip preservation pretty much spell the end of this realistically happening?
If I had to point to a show I actually enjoyed after starting only for the mess... I'd probably have to say "What Would You Do?"
Really sad Nickelodeon hasn't come up with a great Messy Gameshow (that was actually entertaining) in years, but even if they did it wouldn't feature nearly enough Celebs/Adults to make it worth it.
I'd love to see Playboy or MTV develop a College Age/Bunny Type Gameshow in the old vein of Double Dare or Fun House, but I'm not holding my breath.
Same here on the mtv thing. I used to always watch next and parental control just for the messy scenes. There seemed to be a lot of them. The best one I remember was on next when this chick wanted to play in pudding and whipped cream. It was awesome but didn't last long enough. Been searching forever for that clip but can never find it.
I first saw that "Hercules" clip years ago. I couldn't believe how she just dove in and started getting turned on! She's beautiful, and she looks amazing in the mud! :lovestruck:
Agreed, that Hercules clip is a classic (although I never spent much time with the show, proving your point about the ability to excerpt clips online, I guess).
When I was a kid I watched a lot of soap operas, partly knowing there would be a messy scene or cat fight sooner or later, but also getting invested in the characters and plot lines. Somebody here mentioned the other day that a character on a familiar TV show getting pied is different from a random clip because of context, and because it's more like someone you know getting it, and I think there's some truth to that.
There was a promo for Moonlighting with Cybil Shepard showing her hit with a pie. I watched every episode just to see that scene! I fell in love with the show at the same time.
I do however remember being disappointed the episode ended right after she took the pie, leaving very little aftermath.
So I'm watching late night TV as a teenage and there's a documentary about Ken Russell and this comes on. I had the volume down so I've no idea what it's about. I thought it mut be some incredible arthouse WAM fetish movie. I never see it again and it becomes my holy grail of messiness. Several years later I'm reading about the Tomy movie in a music magazine. The beans scene gets mentioned so I'm straight to the music store ans buy the VHS and lo and behold! Finally got my hands on it. I liked the Who as well, but had only heard Pinball Wizard and Substitute and My Generatio. I actually loved the movie, even Oliver Reed's terrible singing. I love the album, but some of the songs are better performed in the movie (Daltrey struggles on the high notes IMHO). If you haven't seen it you should check it out, just to see Jack Nicholson as a singing doctor.
Suite Life of Zack and Cody was one I watched for the wam and stayed for the show. Had a huge crush and still do on Brenda Song... hence my avatar pic.
MXC (Most Extreme Elimination Challenge) which, as that Wiki page says, was a re-edit of footage from the Japanese game show Takeshi's Castle that aired on Spike TV in the US from 2003 to 2007. There was some great slam-bang muddy obstacle course slapstick, but really the comedic stylings of Vic, Kenny, and Guy LeDouche were more entertaining to me. Almost ashamed at myself for laughing so hard at some of those lines, but damn they cracked me up. There are endless message board postings and YouTube vids/channels from fans all over. Adultswim is not a bad place to start: http://boards.adultswim.com/t5/Babbling/Favorite-MXC-quotes/td-p/11445570
