An arrogant, vain heel cheating but then getting humiliated with mess is classic comeuppance, a tale as old as time. From a booking point it makes sense.
It really is one of the best wrestling scenes ever.

I saw this but, having missed the fact that somebody made gifs of the scene, I went ahead and made some screencaps. I figured I'd post 'em here anyway, since they let you see better detail, albeit without motion.
What i liked about this scene was the aftermath. They prolonged ash/dana brooks humiliation having the other two women loving it.
Recently in wrestling when it comes to women wam there has been so many botches. The mandy rose one being the absolute worst, and one with zelina vega too. I think aew had a terrible one with penelope ford. Where the cake was so bad.
REally nice. Herte's hoping against hope, but when Toni Storm was pied, she got her revenge. I'd really like to see either of these other two wrestlers end up on the other side of this activity.
Id say this is better than the Sunny one. That was very good but only really got half of her face, this was better coverage IMO. When it comes to great wrestling cakings, I think this might be the best, with Michelle McCool and Layla maybe coming in second. Milena Roucka got a very good one in OVW, even though we only have pictures. And though it's not a caking, Layla getting pied is one of my favorites scenes ever. Same for Leila Grey and Tiffany Nieves in OVW last year.
That Mandy one still annoys. If they did a faceplant instead of throwing it (who throws a cake, honestly), that could've been great. Also, using spaghetti instead of something messier hurt as well. And I'll never forget a stagehand accidentally costing us Zelina. Poor Penelope almost broke her nose on that dry cake in 2021.
Sadly, I can't see scenes like this happening in the bigger companies. That Toni Storm scene put a stigma on ladies getting pied and caked in WWE, not to mention that the current regime steers away from that kind of stuff in general. And AEW very rarely does that kind of stuff, even less so in the past few years, thats why that Athena caking seemed to come out of nowhere (even though that was ROH).

The two ladies who pushed Ash's face in the cake, Gigi Dolan and Tatum Paxley, are actually from the WWE and part of the NXT brand.
TNA and the WWE are doing some crossover angles. I think this crossover angle is done because Gigi and Tatum lost the match but still gave the heels their comeuppance in the end. It had a note of finality to it.
Interestingly, this scene was actually filmed a couple of weeks ago. I had read about it happening, but didn't know when it was going to air.

So according to the tapings that happened last night, Gigi and Tatum are still in TNA, wrestling against Ash's partner and another girl. I feel like the messy part of this angle is over, but ya never know.
