So, for those of you non-Canadians, Canada is in the last legs of a federal election campaign. The Prime Minister called an early election in the hopes of obtaining a majority government. The ploy seems to be backfiring. Tsk, tsk.

My wife and I went out to cast early ballots. We had to wait 3.5 minutes which is typical any time I've voted. Two sets of invigilators checked us off their lists. Party representatives circulated in the background but this is normal and untoward.

Voting took only a few moments (bear in mind that we were voting only for one person on a slate of six candidates).

The election results should be available a few hours after the polls close next Monday.

I did the advance voting on Sunday. It was around the corner from where I get coffee every day, so I really had no excuse.

What a shit sandwich list of candidates.

Maybe next time you should run.

Not being specific to Canada but this is democracy's greatest failure and success all at once - You make shitty stupid choices and you get shitty stupid leaders. At least they are incapable of remaining in office for enough time to do serious harm. It would be nice if some of them might do good more than occasionally though.

I haven't felt passionate about any national politician since Ronald Reagan. Ever since, voting has been about minimizing the damage. Just a curious question to our Northern brethren, does anybody there actually like Mr. Trudeau or is he just the least worst possible? I'm sure this is colored by my own politics but he looks like quite the doofus from here. And we live in a global era of such.
