something i've been thinking about...would there be any interest if i made my videos available in a format that would play on tablets and phones? it occurred to me that lots of people dont even use computers anymore. i could make my videos available in .MP4 format with a lower resolution and smaller file size and offer them at a slightly discounted price.
I didn't know anyone still released in anything but H.264 / MP4 nowadays, it's become pretty much a universal standard.
Given just about all modern phones are Full-HD and 4K is starting to appear, no need to reduce the bitrate or resolution either.
The only issue is Apple iOS devices, which don't have a traditional file system (which Android, Windows, and Linux all do) which means Apple device users can't download files directly to their devices, they instead need to download to a PC or Mac and then use iTunes to transfer the files to the iOS device.
i think the answer to my question is to just change the format to mp4 and just leave it that way. i guess the wmv was just still a habit from the days when it had to be that way. thanks guys. i'll start converting them right away
