Well, I'm the one that knows where the deep clay mudpits are, used to live in DFW, currently in central Texas. Take a look at some of my videos to see what I consider good mud. Be aware that the good mudpits require trespassing and that many of the quarries are watching for you up in DFW. If you don't end up inviting me at least run your location by me so I can let you know any precautions connected with it.
From your username, I'm thinking you might be thinking of Red River mud. Best area for that if the lake is down is the upper end of Lake Texoma but it is not all that deep. A boat is required to access it. I have a waverunner incidently.
What is your projected weekend for this? Most good mudpits can only be accessed on Sundays.
