This is not a criticism, Rich, of your magnificent work. But,out of curiousity, I'm just trying to sort out which thing, which themes, keep reappearing out of, let's say, dumb chance, i.e. out of habit, versus which things you put into your videos for a specific purpose because certain customers have a fetish for it.
I was referring to the blindfold thing. Is that a specific fetish people have?
Yeah, the blindfold is a different fetish, but I'm not really "capitalizing" on it. If I REALLY wanted the bondage crowd (and $$), I'd go full on: Ball gag, hogties, etc. But that's also pretty obviously "fetish" and most of my models (like Taylor for SURE) would never go for it.
Doing the whole "kidnapping" scenario is kind of a cake-and-eat-it situation: It's enough bondage for that crowd (blindfold, gag, bonds or handcuffs) but we do it in a goofy way (with the model running around like an idiot, colliding with a rubber chicken, getting a bucket "stuck" on her head) so it's pretty vanilla. And more "stupid" than "fetish."
That said: Some models really have fun with it, and some straight-up go, "I'm not doing bondage." (They're fine with getting clobbered with pies for 3 hours, of course.) The first two I really tried it with, Zarah and SS101 Brit, were SO good I made it a "thing." So praise/blame them. On the flipside, I remember Carrie giving me notes after her first shoot (SS113): Liked the pies, slime, and water. Didn't like being gagged or holding an egg in her mouth. (Who knew?) So she never did that again.
ANYWAY. Apologies for the long answer, but this has always fascinated me. I do think there's a thread between a girl who can't see because of pie vs. blindfold... especially if you play both for laughs. As a kid I liked to see both. And it's also the reason I've recently steered away from the more overt "bondage" scenario and towards stuff like bucket-on-head, which is straight-up slapstick from the Stooges or Lucy. (Although I've definitely lost what few bondage fetish fans I ever had.)
