I think it would be a good idea to auto verify anyone with an account over the age of 18 years as this would be impossible to do unless you were 18 years or older, what do you all think???
Whenever possible I think we should avoid sending sensitive information to third parties as we have no control over what happens to it in their hands.
It's not impossible as you give your account to someone else. Also if someone hacks the account you have proof it's yours and have a way of getting it back.
The problem with that is it doesn't comply with the legal requirements, which means the site would get blocked as if there was no age verification in the places that require it.
MM is trying to make the best of a bad situation that none of us asked for, blame the arseholes who kept uploading rape videos of kids to adult tube sites, and the tube sites that refused to implement any effective way of blocking deleted videos from being reuploaded. That's what brought us all to this point.
I was asked to do age verification on my Apple account recently, and it said "Based on the age of your account, no further evidence is necessary" (paraphrasing from memory). If that's good enough for them, it should be good enough for the UMD.
Regarding silver_sea's comment, an account could be transferred/hacked after showing ID, so that doesn't solve the problem. Also, I don't think you'd be able to prove that the account is yours, because UMD don't get a copy of your ID (that's handled by a third party).
I voted Yes, but not because I agree. There is one simple fact that will always remain no matter how much we are against it. Messmaster operates in the U.S. There are laws in the U.S. being written and already in place in some places that require it from adult sites. If Messmaster wants to continue operating in the U.S. and sell stuff in the U.K and other places, he has to abide by these laws. Are they ignorant knee jerk reactions, of course they are, that is how politicians operate. Are they enforceable, yes, but that doesn't mean they are going out all over the internet to police it. Does that mean that Messmaster wants to do something to get on their radar, No. Until politicians favorite porn site gets compromised and their personal information is leaked, nothing will change.

There is no law in the US requiring it and he doesn't have to abide by it. Or in the UK. Quit fucking lying, dalamar. Some of us are not afraid to defy these laws.
So your saying there is no laws in the US or Uk And then say some of us are not afraid to defy these laws
So my question is there laws or is there not laws as you confused me with that one you do sound ranty at everyone
I dont see a problem with age thing Its there to keep everyone self and so on But i spose everyone has a veiw on it mine is lets keep peaple self and have some fun with the site

MM is not the one imposing age-verification on us. He's trying to keep the website going, as opposed to having it get shut down because some under-age user got through the gaps. Also by using a third-party verification solution, the onus is on THEM should anything go wrong. To me this is the best way to implement something that neither MM or the site users are likely very thrilled about.
I remember talking with someone who needed an ID card to prove they were over 18 to find a job. They lost their ID and had one from the previous year. It showed their birthday and when they turned 17 and simple math proved that they were now 18. But the people hiring said the card was expired and therefore inaccurate. Yet, they were 17 last May and obviously would have turned 18 this May. But the employer said that they had to see a current ID card stating the person was 18 or older.
So common sense says if I've been a UMD member for more than 18 years, I must be over 18, but common sense doesn't always exist in the law. Sometimes you have to play by the rules, as rigid as they may be.
