Would like some advice please. I am trying to find the best pie filling for using with my wife. We get messy often but I've never managed to find the right pie filling for what I'm after.
I prefer whipped cream to foam type pies but find it 'melts' too quickly and doesn't coat very well. My ideal would be a cool whip type pie but I can't find it in the UK.
Does anyone have any recommendations on products to use or recipes to make at home that are fairly simple but effective? I've tried the pie mix from messy supplies but didn't get on with it.
I've had great experiences using watered down shaving cream (mixed in a bowl). You can make it as thick or thin as you want, and it's easy to add color.
I don't know if a similar product is available in the UK, but my favorite cream to order online is this chantilly cream. I used it in my blue pie photo attached. It spreads so nicely and smells great!

Wow that's amazing! I'll have to see if I can get hold of some. Thankyou

Not sure that Chantilly cream is available in the UK but it is just double cream sugar and vanilla so it can be made easily
Dream topping is worth trying i believe this to be the same as dream whip

Birds is the most consistent cream-like product IMO. Very easy to get to the exact consistency you want. Whipping double cream can easily go to stiff and isn't sloppy enough for pie and just cakes together and falls off the body/face. Squirty cream is ok but has a small window, use to soon after spraying and it's too stiff as above. Wait too long and it practically turns to liquid.
I will say though that whilst dream topping is great if you're looking to avoid that 'sicky' smell conversely if you're someone who enjoys how nasty cream starts to smell after it curdles from body heat then stick with real dairy.
