Yesterday I noticed a thread where a UMDer named Pieinface66 was looking for an older video that turned out to be one of mine on PiedAsianGirls.com. I was glad to see that even though I haven't shot anything for a few years, the stuff we shot is still appreciated and not completely forgotten. I had a lot on my plate last night, so decided to wait until this morning to chime in and/or contact the guy.
However, I came in here this morning and discovered the thread had been deleted mere minutes before, and the reason was still visible: instead of just going to my site and purchasing the video he wanted, the guy was looking for someone to give him a copy of it -- actually soliciting this help right here on the forum.
I'm no noob; I know that happens. I'm sure stuff I've shot has been shared far more than it's been purchased from me. But if you wanted a specific video so badly that you posted on here in the hope that someone could identify it for you, and then someone not only identified it, but also told you who the producer was, and you were able to look at that producer's site and see that the video you wanted is available for ONLY 49 CENTS... what the hell?
Here's the kicker: if Pieinface66 had come to me with some hard-luck story about not having a credit card or something like that, I would've just given him a copy. I think people on here who know me know that. He could've done the right thing and spent the bare minimum and gotten the video, or he could've just asked for my help and gotten the video.
When I started writing this post, I was fueled by my annoyance at Pieinface66, kind of wanting to shame him. But now I want this post to be a call to everyone to just be more respectful of the sources of all the stuff you enjoy. There are so many people in this community creating things for us that aren't readily available in the mainstream, I think we should be grateful for their efforts.
I want to urge everyone to think twice before pirating something. If there's a producer whose work you really like, think about sending a couple dollars their way -- at least once in a while! -- so that they can keep the videos coming.
With that in mind, I'd like to start a thread of appreciation, shining a light on any producer (whether they sell their stuff or just contribute here on the forums) or any particular video that you're thankful for -- whatever the reason.
I'm gonna start:
1. I'm thankful that Neil Edwards created all those great vids that are still available on piefightgirls.com (under new ownership). His tastes and mine are very similar, and if anyone has ever enjoyed any of my videos, they should thank Neil. He inspired my content & style, and he is also the person who urged me to get into the business.
2. I'm thankful for Ariel and her site, wambabes.com. It's not just that I've enjoyed the content of her videos since the early days, but she opened my eyes to the idea that there are women who might want to actively take part in these activities, because she wasn't just doing it as a hired hand in someone else's video; she ended up being the one who called the shots and made the production happen, and she always looks like she's having a blast. When I started shooting videos, I didn't have the money to pay pro models, and I also didn't really want to shoot with people I didn't know. But thanks to Ariel, I realized it wasn't crazy to look for some female friends who might want to help -- I realized there might be some women around me already who'd find it fun. If I had thought that a woman would only want to be in a pie video for the money -- that she wouldn't enjoy the experience and enjoy being part of a creative project -- then I probably never would have started.
3. I'm very glad I met Ken, the owner of gagon.com in Japan. He was the first wam enthusiast I'd ever met in person (that I know of!), and he showed me that we're just people -- we're not aliens incapable of having normal relationships and lives. He showed me that it's possible to have a business producing and selling wam videos and still have a family and another full-time job and everything else people have in their lives. Without meeting Ken, I don't know if I ever would have accepted my fetish so fully, let alone started shooting videos.
I was about to list #4, and then realized I could go on a little too long with all of the people who've inspired me, showed me kindness and befriended me in this community. So I'll leave it there, with the three people who've had the most impact on me as a wammer, and a few pics below.
Please tell us about the producers you appreciate!

That's definitely a sentiment I can echo having had to issue loads of DCMA takedowns over the last few days.
As for showing appreciation for other producers there are too many to name all of you so I'll just say a big thanks to the top Candy Custard for allowing me to take over your studio and cause absolute chaos when I shoot. You're a diamond!
Echoing above, but yeah... Your work is hugely appreciated. Personally, it's had a big impact on what I look for in scenes. The sense of fun that permeates your back-catalog is second to none. Just the fact that the fun registers speaks to the variety and consistent quality of your stuff.
I'm sure you didn't intend to be the recipient of the appreciation here, but I'd be remiss in not passing it along. Even if it wasn't your thread, when talking about impactful and valued producers, you'd be near the top of my list. Many lists, I imagine.
There was a time when I couldn't afford to buy more than one VHS video every six months, from Messy Fun. I collected free samples from other producers, but never considered trying to pirate anything, if I couldn't afford it I did without.
Interesting you mention Ken / Gagon, there was a video of his I always loved the sample pictures of which lived in my collection for years, eventually when I could afford it I bought the video (it's the fully clothed one of the teacher punishing the student for smoking, where they both get spectacularly messy). But it came with DRM which then broke when I upgraded to Windows 7. So I will never buy anything else from Gagon, or from any other producer who uses DRM. But I won't pirate either, because it's wrong, I'll just do without.
Gagon are definitely one of my inspirations though, it's where I first saw the idea of girls playing games with the winner getting to mess up the loser each turn. Other producers who's work I've always admired include Rob Blaine's Messy Fun, Candy Custard, Erik Elsas, Cinqgirlracer, and more recently the Moomins. And then of course there was Splosh!, which while there was usually too much nudity for my taste nevertheless really set the standard for comedic WAM, in a way that has seldom been bettered.
As a former producer myself, I can relate to the amount of time, effort and expense that goes into producing a wam video, then the low price it must be sold at in order to have any sales, and to get a little of the investment back. There is just NO ROOM in our industry for illegal 'sharing' of people's hard work. I'm glad this thread draws attention not only to pirating, but to your excellent work.
This is a really lovely UMD thread and it's great that something so positive has come out of something so disheartening, which is all credit to you Alumi.
As for me..I have so many people to be grateful to, the worst thing about these threads is I always forget someone.
But Candy Custard and Henry Wilcox have always been incredibly supportive and encouraging and wonderful and are genuine legends. The amazing Rod Whitestar is not only a talented second camera person, but just such a wonderful fella.
Mr Moe and Big M have helped enormously with my shoots too, and are great chaps.
JellynCustard and Jeremy Custard have both been fantastic.
The long suffering Mrs Rev is the most wonderful and encouraging and lovely partner a man could ask for.
It'sJay and Madmalc have both been incredibly supportive in recent times and it's hugely appreciated.
The Moomins, Bosunbob, Kaydens, Team 18, and almost every other producer I have interacted with have been encouraging and offered help and advice rather than view me as 'the opposition'.
Again I could list more wonderful models than you have had hot dinners who I owe so much to, but among many shining stars I have to list Cherry, Satine Spark, Maria and Honour May. But there are loads more.
Plus, of course, every single person here who chooses to buy rather than pirate which means that I can, just about, scrape a living from doing this. I can't thank all of you directly, but everyone who does the right thing, has my heartfelt gratitude.
There are so many more, and if I haven't named you here but you've been amazing and helpful please know that you are appreciated, but this is becoming like a Paltrow Oscars speech.
Thank you all, you are all amazing, and thank-you Alumi for this great thread..
I obviously deeply appreciate the Moominteam, and Charlotte, who is the perfect associate, given what she is doing as well. (I'm not sure whether Casey's interview was a "shoot" but she's on so many videos she counts as a creator at least!)
And I do miss Alumi's videos. Especially those of Nami, who has such an infectious joie de vivre and madness, even though I can't a word that she says; and her combinations with Ake in particular, they would have made a great comedy double act, Ake with her wounded dignity and Nami with her devil-may-care attitude.
And I'm still hopelessly in love with Noriko, who was even cute when she wiped her eyes.
I owe a debt of gratitude to the Kowalskis and Noise for helping me with my first few shoots, plus a team of people who aren't producers here who helped me make it happen and continue to happen.
In terms of inspiration, I am an old man, so I first saw real WAM from Bill Shipton and Splosh, Artscene Aquatics and MessyFun. I would never have ended up producing for 15 years without their work.
The Man and The Wife said: I could list a few, but I would say my biggest influence is SlapstickStuff.
Yes, I do love Rich's stuff, most particularly the girl-next-door types in dresses & skirts. The fitness trainer (Mya) is perfect. And Brin and Sabrina not far behind.
Let me chime in and say producers should never give a video to anyone for free. Why? Because they may be underage. And in fact, a lot of people who can't buy clips can't do so because they're underage.
I run a forum for another fetish and actually had someone post "hey, need to trade, I'm 14 and can't buy anything." Obviously I booted him.
But I will never risk giving a video to a 16 year old. If you want an adult video, you need to buy it from a platform.

Right? That's why I stopped at the first three. But I could've written a long, long list, too.

Thanks, man. Long time, no see!

That's really cool to hear. Thanks. I would attribute that to the fact that most of our shoots were basically parties where we also shot a video. Even when we were shooting sketches, there were a couple of friends there behind the scenes, and when the shoot was done, we started (or kept) drinking, I made or ordered pizza, and we hung out for the rest of the night, laughing at what we'd spent the evening doing and telling stories about other fucked-up stuff we'd all done.

Same here! Well, Gagon and the videos shot by Shimonoseki Maguro -- I can't remember what his site was called, but his main video series were "onna no pai darake" and "Crazy Bath." Anybody else remember those?

Thanks. I'd also like to take credit for the concept of pineapple on pizza. That was me. I swear.

Yeah, everyone likes her! I don't know if I've mentioned this, but she became my sister-in-law a few years ago. She came to Canada with me and Chika a couple years ago and, even though she can't really speak English well, and nobody in my family can speak Japanese at all, she had a blast and everyone laughed their asses off around her.
Back around 2006, when Chika and I were just roommates and Pied Asian Girls was just starting, I was doing standup comedy in Japan. Nami had always been interested in doing comedy on stage, so she and I were talking about doing a two-person act. We came up with a few jokes and some broad ideas for an act, but it fizzled out before we got going.
These days Nami and Chika and all their friends frequently make hilarious short videos and send them to me. It's usually after they've had several beers.
