I'm constantly on a quest to learn more about the psychology behind WAM, and one of the things I thought about was whether part of the attraction in WAM is the look on a girl's face (or guy) that is the surprised/shocked expression that comes either right before or right after a pie in the face or general messy impact.
So a little experiment. I saw this magazine cover the other day, with Jenna whatsername from Doctor Who, and I thought I wonder how many people in the UMD community would say that's a sexy expression?
I know that reaction is the key factor for many people in their attraction to women (or men) getting messy, so is there some deep rooted body language message that is given off in the expressions of a girl that makes this exciting and appealing to the opposite sex?
What would you say? Is this attractive? If so, why?
I'd say it depends on the situation. But yes, I do like seeing girls' reactions to getting covered in liquids. Of course, I'd prefer to see them enjoying it.
Nick said: Expressions are very important to me! I haven't time to go into it now, but big eyes, open mouth, vulnerable.....
Perhaps it's the vulnerability that is attractive to a man as it makes him feel more masculine, and her seem less threatening and therefore more approachable....
It's a classic look for sure; and one that would almost always work right before a pie to the face. Shock or surprise followed by anger or exasperation are hard to top templates for wam.
We could probably fill up a thread with as many pics of this look as are in the seductive pie holding thread. Here is one of Natalie Portman, a fave of mine. The movie it is from (Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium) was complete crap and certainly worthy of a pie to her lovely face.
I usually really enjoy the shocked reaction, although, similar to what Dougiezerts said, I want the girl to be enjoying it (eventually) as well. I do find that photo of Jenna Coleman to be hot, but I find almost any photo of Jenna Coleman to be hot, so not sure if that helps you or not.
I'm interested in your conversation about psychology; I've often looked for the meaning behind my own likes and dislikes. When it comes to WAM, I'm mostly a pie guy and a girl's reaction really makes or breaks a scene. I own a bunch of Slapstickstuff scenes and there's a definite trend in the ones I purchase. The vast majority of them are first time scenes or two girl scenes.
I love seeing a girl's first reaction. That nervous, anxious face before the pie; the shock afterwards. I hate ridiculous overacting. I'm not really sure what that means, but it's important to me. Would it help if I did the ink blot test?
JVSonic pretty much sums it up for me. Jenna Coleman is breathtakingly beautiful without making too much effort, and that pose in that pic is quite WAMesque.
I too am a bit wary of models who have already been pied hundreds of times. I had one session with an ex who had never been pied and her reactions made it incredible.
I've seen a couple of videos where the expression right before being messed up is priceless, you can see it's their first time and it's nervous exhilaration.

Someone needs to nail her with a pie and gunge in the near future.
Yeah, that would be nice. But could it ever live up to the potential?
I'm no good at taking screencaps, so I'm not going to try, but in terms of reactions, there's one video that I often see as being almost perfect. It's a WAMDreams video (I think Noise owns the stock now) called "Rachel's Interview". For starters, the girl is smoking. There's a bunch or prelude, but when it gets close to the first pie, Rachel's reactions are fantastic. Her smile gets wider and more nervous. She keeps looking off camera (presumably at the pie thrower). When she does get hit, her mouth drops open in a shocked laugh, before she wipes just enough away from her eyes to see.
The bad parts? It's a yellow custard (?) pie and I prefer a little more substance. Also, it's got that annoying Chris guy doing the talking.
Genuine facial expressions are my thing, too. Even within scripted scenes there are times where the model clearly isn't acting. There's always the look when it's the models actual first pie ever and you can almost read the different emotions going through her mind based on her body language and facial expressions. My absolute favorite (and this is maybe more body language than facial expressions) is when a model who isn't a wammer in real life finds herself enjoying it way more than she expected. I remember Alexia from Anglefan's earlier work where she took a thick green sliming in a gold shirt. It was her second shoot and I remember Ken saying that she asked to come back because she liked getting messy. I thought it was a marketing ploy until I watched Alexia try not to get too turned on during that sliming. Her breathing alone was crazy sexy because it wasn't from a model who can't hold her breath or figure out how to breathe while getting slimed. It was the intense breathing you hear when you've got your girl so turned on that she wants to explode but she's trying to not scream. Another one from Ken is the really skinny Amanda with the bob haircut. In her first clip she was a little nervous but after a few pies she was having fun. As he dumped the first bucket of slime on her you could see her whole posture and breathing pattern change, and right after she said (a little confused), "I think I'm enjoying this a little too much." Ken's model Andrea did a shoot with a hot blonde where the blonde took a bunch of pies first. As sort of payback, Andrea got slimed twice. Of course they were both acting as if they were grossed out, but when this girl got slimed she was just really into it. Couldn't put her face up into it enough. She tried to do a couple of grossed out moans but it sounded more like she was moaning in pleasure. After the second sliming the hot blonde said, "I think you're enjoying this." To which she responded, "A little bit." That's the stuff that draws me in. When you can tell by the look on her face or her body language that she just loves this weird thing she probably never heard of before the shoot.
P.S. Hey Ken, am I even close on Andrea? Alexia and Amanda both admitted that they liked it, but I've always wondered about Andrea.
Reactions before and after the mess are important. The picture you posted is hot. But I don't think its wam related. It maybe because the girl is hot anyway. For sure it would be awesome to see her pied or gunged with that expression.
A real turn off for me is a girl who doesn't react at all to the mess and just looks uninterested. I don't mind if they look shocked, excited, surprised, angry or confused but to not react at all is boring.
I didn't have time to go through the whole archive but I pulled a few pics from some of my stand-bys.
I always loved Junko from PAG. She seemed kind of shy but never once flinched or backed away from the mess. It's too bad she stopped shooting because she's still my favorite Japanese WAM model.
Shell from Most WAM is my favorite UK model for the same reason. She never flinched and so obviously enjoyed the mess, plus she's gorgeous. With both her and Junko it's the fact that they keep their eyes open until the last second before impact. In Junko's case, even when she did close her eyes, she never squinted or braced for impact, she just closed her eyes and waited for it, then smiled through it the whole time she was getting covered. Very sexy.
Dolci from Anglefan fame always had great initial reactions, especially to slime, which she took particularly well. Too bad she's not still shooting with Ken. Jackie was another one of Ken's models that I always suspected as a closet "enjoyer" of the messy shoots. Her reaction to the pies and slime always seemed so contradictory, like she was trying to act all grossed out but was enjoying it at the same time. Her slime scenes are great because she always has this confused look on her face once the slime hits her but within a few seconds she's smiling and can't push her face up high enough.
And there's a two-girl clip from Anglefan that I absolutely love. I included a pre-slime picture, and if you look at their facial expressions you can see that the hot Asian girl on the right just said the magic words to trigger the slime and is just waiting for it to fall, while her friend on the left is laughing and looking up at Ken as he's getting ready to pour it.
These threads are right up my alley. What turns me on just as much as the mess is what's going through the person's mind as well.
I might be a little different than other people on this thread, but the appearance I love to see on somebody's face before they get pied is a kind of 'you wouldn't' stare. After they get pied, the expression that really excites me is what I call 'playful righteous indignation'. The two images below express the general ideas quite well, both featuring the incomparable Vicky/London.
I agree with Labyrinth's original post, and I think the picture of Jenna is sexy and similar to the kind of expression before a good pie hit. As some here have suggested, the wide-eyed, open-mouthed expression is a sign of arousal, and if you add a surprised gasp it's pretty similar to an orgasm. I know I'm turned on by an aroused partner or by the subject of a video getting hot.
(But I also like the you-wouldn't-dare expression Krazeek describes. Possibly they're two sides of the same coin: self-control contrasted with its complete loss.)
