I'm looking to have the place to myself (finally!) In a month or so. Obviously planning big as this is the first alone time I'll have had since all this began. So I was thinking of setting up a Gunge Tank in my bath but was starting to get a little lost with how it will all work. I'm happy to build the release mechanism (I was even mooting the idea of creating a remote release and live streaming my session, but that might just be the software engineer in me hehe).
My main issue is suspending this gunge above me. I have bath in a corner with nothing to suspend any weight from. Does anyone have any experience with a structure for this kind of situation?
I've looked at shoe racks that will fit over the bath (that requires feet about 65cm apart) but they're too low and I'd rather be sitting that laying (I'm going to do this properly lol).
I am doing research myself but if there's one place where someone will have done this research before, it's probably here!

So you have no like shower curtain rail for it? As that could be replaced with something stronger if not maybe just build a structure that fits over the bath and totally make it remote control

The shower curtain rail is not mounted to the wall, it's just sprung into position so doesn't leave me with any viable options to suspend anything. I am looking at some heavy duty clothes racks that will fit over my bath, looking like a decent idea to be honest.
Also gauging interest with the remote control thing, who would be interested in gunging me?
As others have said, be aware that a bucket full of gunge is going to be heavy! So, make sure that the whole lot isn't going to collapse on top of you, especially if you're using this when you're alone in the house.
You said that your bath is in a corner. Is it flush against the wall? I.e. do you need to balance the tank on the sides of the bath or can it be floor-standing?
I read those and there was some interesting comments but nothing that really fits my needs.
I understand the weight issue, I'm only looking at things that will take that weight 100%, I'm an engineer, so I understand the risks and know not to take any.
The bath is in a corner but there is a surface around the bath that can bear weight and the structure can lean against the wall if it must.

The first thought that came into my head upon reading that was a stray splash of gunge landing at the base of the structure lubricating the floor making it so that the slightest nudge causes it the slip (especially if the wall is tiled) and collapse.
If you're serious about getting a solution it would help enormously if you were to upload images of the bath and bits around it that any structure may rely on so a full idea of the problem space can be obtained rather than people try to fill in the blanks around the text description.
So far from what I've read I'm somewhat of the opinion that your bath is not suitable for any form of suspended tank style gunge tank and that your best bets are either:
1. If your bath has a shower head holder that allows you to remove the shower head that you feed a hose through said shower head holder, have a bucket of gunge on the floor and use a pump to pump the gunge up and out of the hose.
2. Abandon the bath idea completely and consider whether you could put a paddling pool around your toilet and build you temporary gunge tank around the toilet with a more stable footing.
I have tried to make/design a frame for a bathtub but if it's inside then you lose room to sit under it, though you could make it a pouring tank rather than a 'hole in bottom'. Just be aware to have a wide base as there will be force and weight moving towards the victim.
Putting a frame on the edges of the bath is just too dangerous, as in lethally dangerous.
The best bet is a standing frame (old wardrobe, scaffolding etc) outside of the bath with a paddling pool to catch the gunge, then enjoy the clear up...but at least you are alive!.
A previous house had the bathroom door opening against the bathtub, so the back of the door overlapped the end of it.
The door was strong enough to hold a partially filled water carrier (I never used more then 5l of gunge in it). A plank or shelf could be used instead of a trivet, (If you buy one, you can use it in the kitchen most of the time). The water carrier was about 250mm deep, so the tap was about 200mm into the bath.. Loosen the tap and tug the cap off when ready. The door should be wedged in position, as there may be recoil. Protect the door with a towel to avoid indentations or scratches.
So I bent two brackets to hook over the door (needed to use a vice), drilled two pieces of wood. tightened bolts, and pulled a luggage strap taut. Bending the brackets wasn't that precise, so the trivet wasn't totally flat, but the strap overcame this.
It worked, but I felt wedged at the end of the bath, trying to lean under the flow. Since that house, I prefer tipping a bucket over myself.
if you have a ladder that can reach from floor/wall corner to top corner of the ceiling above the bath this will create a diagonal, suspend dustbin bags or heavy duty refuse sacks full of stuff above you then split with a knife.
the ladder cant fall on you as its wedged between floor / wall corner and ceiling / wall corner, the refuse sacks are easily disposed of
Can you post some photos of your bathroom? Whats your budget for building this?
I'm thinking a telescopic pole you can lock in vertically (search for telescopic pole bathroom shelf). Depending on your budget you can mount several of them, 1 or 2 vertical to support the load, and one horizontal spanning the walls at ceiling level to hang the gunge from.
You've got the place to yourself for a month, consider setting a gunge tank in another location which has better suspension points. An inflatable pool and plastic dust sheets can make a pretty good DIY gunge tank. The added bonus of this is you can leave the tank full between uses and still have access to your shower.
--Edit: The strongest simple solution would be to mount a chin-up bar in the doorframe.
When I had my own bedsit place the best serlf rankings I managed where whrn I abandoned the bathroom completely and just heavily tarped/blanketed thge floor. I then used a big bookcase that was in the flat as my 'tank' to sit in. Not exactly Splat Show standard but fun all the same. Very sturdy so felt safe. Clean up was a bitch though.
