Gutted. In what was supposed to be my big messy comeback, i was editing my video and accidentally deleted all the good stuff apart from my first pie im such a ditzy girl. Literally all i left is me twking the first pie. There were another ten plus custard, trifle, gateaux and frosting, has this happened to any one else. I was totally ruined by the end gutted, as i really wanted to share this properly, guess ill have to repeat the whole scene with this outfit ha Ps has this ever happened to anyone else?
Cheers its just annoying, ive been wanting to post some new stuff for ages but just not found the time! Ive got some other sets to post just need to get round to it.
Hi Portia has it not saved to Google Photos or Cloud? I always have at least 2 mobile phones filming my escapades so if one stops or if I delete stuff from one I have the other as a backup
Not with messy footage but I recently had a similar incident and was fuming! Rather than drag each clip into the editor individually, I lassoed all the clips and dragged them in, at which point nothing happened.
Odd, I thought and went back to do it again, only to find that all the clips had been deleted.
As I was using a fileserver rather than the local machine, they weren't in the bin so the whole lot was gone. Incredibly annoying! As I hadn't waited 24 hours since loading the clips to the fileserver, it hadn't yet taken a 'snapshot' of them to be able to roll them back.
(That was with ShotCut, btw. Generally ok but there's no way it should have done this!!)
I've done the unintended deleting of the odd video and photo, feel like a total idiot when you realise what you've done. One mistake that I've made a few times is filming in macro mode, great for anything that's about 2ft from the camera, but anything further away is blurred. It's not obvious that you've done it when you view the playback on the camera, but as soon as it's on the computer you realise it's unusable, wasted several hours of filming because of it.
This has happened to me several times and luckily on some of the occasions I had another backup camera but unfortunately I have deleted content (some important clip) without realizing it until the moment of editing and it is really frustrating! I haven't had to repeat the scene but recording it again would mean spending time and effort again, although I imagine that if it's a custom one I wouldn't have any other choice if something too relevant was deleted.

Im not that clued in on all the different places files go. I had about 2hours of video. But, the last 45 mins id left the phone recording while i went out the room to get in the shower and clean up, so i decided to crop the video to just after id "finished " so to speak but some how i managed to delete everything except the first 3 minutes! Even though i was sure id got it right. Silly girl
My first camera was a knock off Go-Pro. Which worked some of the time, not that I knew it was some of the time until after my first set of sessions with it. First scene came out great. Second scene cut out after 40 seconds. Third scene cut out after 53 seconds. Fourth scene cut out after 37 seconds. Fifth scene cut out after 45 seconds.
Wiped the drive on it, then used it as a second cam on a family adventure; first run went ok- then it cut out again after less than a minute. Promptly thrown in the fire since the refund window had passed.
=========Edit======== I see a few people here mention cloud storage. I do not use cloud storage for any kind of intimate photo, or anything I want to keep private.
I STRONGLY and FIRMLY recommend AGAINST using any kind of cloud storage for these kind of photos.
There is no such thing as "cloud storage"- it's just someone else's hard-drives. And no matter how much they promise its "safe" and "secure" you can never trust a random stranger with your nudes. Once somethings leaked, it's out there, permanently out there for the world to see.
Use an external hard drive, keep it disconnected when not in use, and make sure any kind of automatic backup/archive isn't running while you're running the hot stuff.

Yeah I'm very dubious of the cloud myself as well.
Oooo unlucky Portia! It looks like a whole lot of fun was had there though!
I once did a scene and forgot to press the record button, or accidentally pressed it twice or something lol. Thankfully it was something smaller but i still didnt want to do it again afterwards.
When editing i always make a copy in my current projects folder to edit that rather than the original
