Was there ever a DVD or Blu-Ray that showed more of the girl-girl wrestling scene going on when the guys walk in to the club? I've seen one B/W picture floating around the internet (and it's a good one), but that's about it.
I'm assuming this is the photo you are referring to. Sadly like you I haven't seen any deleted footage and every review I've read of the extended cut says nothing about the mud wrestling scene
There is definitely more than one cut of this movie. The cut I've seen on TV at least four times over the years (first time was around 1998 while working a summer job up on Cape Anne), always has about a minute and a half extra of the two girls at the beginning. They show more of the fight just before the referee raises the one girl's hand, and then when the girl who won starts blowing kisses to the crowd, the other girl leaps on her and they fight again for a few more seconds. I can't remember if there was any extra footage; I haven't seen Stripes on TV in about five years. However, when I have seen it, it's always this alternate cut version. Although there have been additional scenes included on DVD releases over the years, this alternate cut and the additional footage at the mud wrestling club have never been included, unfortunately.
The TV cut of STRIPES definitely has alternate footage in place of the nude scenes. I don't remember it being as good as sadblue's description, but I do have it on a cliptape. If that disc rises to the surface of the clutter any time soon I might rip that scene and post it.

Yep, that's the one.

Have you seen the German version? Wondering if it's the same, except with German subtitles. Guess I'll have to keep an eye out for it on TV sometime. Your description is intriguing. The 'losing' girl in that match is probably the same one (on top) in the b/w pic, judging by her curves.
Sorry about the image quality but based on the cliptape number, I originally recorded this on VHS literally 25 years ago, give or take a semester of high school. I seem to have edited out some of the dialogue but I'm 98% sure I retained all of the muddy bits.
The extra shots are so brief they never had much wankin' value, but I'm glad this came up, since I've been revisiting the scene more since it came out on Blu-ray. Will have to cue this up on another screen next time.
(And if it's not obvious, the two girls in the initial mud wrestling match are the same two who turn up clean, in different outfits, at the end of the John Candy match. The one who blows the kisses, Sue Bowser, is the one whose tits get the big closeup during the free-for-all with Candy.)
Thanks for the effort, Regis. Agreed, it's barely a second or two of additional footage in that one.
I'll keep an eye out on cable, but right now it's only movie channels showing it, which is going to be the theatrical version.
Side note: there was a 2nd b/w pic on Ebay recently, from the same set as the one shown above. It's of the other girl (on bottom), presumably after she flung the other one off.

Thats the first time Ive seen the two girls in the opening scene clean thats a plus, has anyone seen the making of stripes? I saw that on one of the DVD or blueray versions is there behind the scenes of the mudwrestling?
Keeping this thread going - here's a larger version of that 2nd pic
I checked the 'Extended' DVD I have, and there's a 'Behind the Scenes' extra about the whole movie, but no new mudwrestling footage. Apparently they shot a WEEK in that club, so.......
Believe it or not, I remember reading an interview with John Candy which said he was very unhappy doing that scene. I remember he complained about being cold & wet.

Candy was also uncomfortable about being in his underwear around so many people and thought, pretty much accurately, that the punchline of the scene was his weight.
Of course, Reitman and the rest of the cast were probably too busy nailing mud wrestlers to feel bad for him.
Hands down Stripes is truly a classic. It has the best mud wrestling ring with the best mud in any mud wrestling clip I have seen in any movie.. You would think there would be tons of extra footage. In the 25 year anniversary DVD They all talk how it was funny such a short 5 min seen took a week to shoot.. doubt they will ever release the behind the seen extras but it would be great if they did.
Thought you all might like to see this behind the scenes picture of John Candy and Bill Murray and all the mud wrestling ladies on the set of "Stripes".
