In 1997, when I first got an AOL account, MessyFun, Aquatapes, Artscene/Aquantics, and Splosh were the biggest names in town. Before 1997, Mud Puddle Visuals BBS and lots of Usenet groups.
--MessyFun was around in the early 90s, and that was the first site I ever found. Other big sites of the time included Splosh and SSS (Soaked Sloppy & Submerged), which was the umbrella that included Aquatapes and WAMTEC. These were all big-time producers putting out VHS tapes with a variety of models, scenes, and types of mess. (The days of buying ONLY pie scenes, or only wetlook or only mud, were still to come.)
--The main "forum" was the alt.sex.fetish.wet-and-messy newsgroup. (I might have that name wrong.) Mostly just people talking. No video, and the occasional picture took 10 minutes to download! UMD wouldn't come along for years.
--Eventually "amateur" producers started putting up their own sites. These were the first folks to cater specifically to niches within WAM (as opposed to targeting all facets of WAM in every release like the big producers who were spending thousands and actually distributing their work in stores). The earliest "pie producers" I remember are Messygirl, Phoebe, WammaLammaPie (Robby), and WAMF. Neil Edwards had already been putting out tapes, but didn't have a website until he moved to L.A. in the early 2000s and changed the name to PieFightGirls. (They were featured on Jimmy Kimmel back when that show was starting out. )
--Vidown and Soundguy were the ones who really popularized the sales of individual downloads online. (Before that, most WAM sales were VHS and then DVD through the mail.) I think SlapstickStuff was one of the earliest sites to sell downloads in 2005, along with Lenny's PieVids and some others. (I only had a website in 2004, years after the first wave of amateur stuff.) And Anglefan's website was even later. (Ken was releasing videos years before but only promoting them via email lists... No website.)
2005 was also the year YouTube debuted, so the combo of that site and Vidown (and Clips4Sale, and later the UMD Store) really changed how people bought and accessed WAM from that point forward.
Define "wam video site", does it mean sites where you could order VHS tapes or DVDs by mail order, or sites from which digital video could be downloaded and/or streamed? The answers will vary significantly depending which version is counted.

well i was born in 91 it was on youtube like 2007 the 2 sites sold pie and slimed saw they had selection of videos they were selling. I didnt realize much it was a fetish in general or for me untill 2012 so took me time to process there was a wam market. Im not sure what to include thinking of general concept of showing mess content and previewing videos on what they look like. I dont know about tapes dvds as downloads is only method i bought i did know anglefan had their dvd store stohough.
Then in 2015 Wamerica was established. Currently my labs are working on pie apps, and pie VR, that we tenatively have named: Virtual Pieality. Also im trying to move into anamatronics. Basically a android that doesn't shut down when you shove its face in a cake. Not easy.
For me, my first discovery was Messyfun. There were really no search engines so I literally typed it in just to see if a site would be there, and I was blown away.

That's fantastic... we need to have this stuff on the Wiki.

I was born in 67, until 95 I genuinely believed I was the only person in the world who found women getting messy fully clothed arousing. I remember in 92 in Amsterdam I asked a shop owner who had lots of naked oil wrestling videos for sale (VHS tapes) if he had any with the girls fully dressed in the oil, and he looked at me like I'd asked for a deep fried ferret in chocolate sauce. In 95 I bought a modem and dialed up to this "Internet" thing, and Within a week I'd made contact with Rob Blaine at Messy Fun and the rest is history. Back then Messy Fun sold two hour VHS tapes for $50 each, each tape had six scenes, each of which would start fully clothed, the girl(s) would get totally messy, then strip in the mess, and end up nude. There would also be one or two wetlook scenes in amongst the messy ones. Ordering from the UK meant sending off a cheque for £50 (which was worth at least $80 back then) and then waiting at least six weeks for the banks to convert it into dollars and pay it into Rob's account, and then the tape to be sent out by air mail. I could afford to order one tape every six months or so. At the same time you could also order tapes from Crazy Girls, Splosh, and trade clips recorded from TV shows via WAMTEC (Wet And Messy Tape Exchange Club). WSM and Aquatapes / Aquantics were also selling produced tapes at the time I think. It really is amazing how far things have come since those days, electronic international banking made an incredible difference.

I'm just typing from memory, so not sure the dates are 100% accurate. I would talk to WAMTEC Mark, as he was in the thick of things (ahem) and has a pretty good memory of these dates. And not to be morbid, but he's the only guy from that original crop of producers still around. (RIP Rob and Bill and Lenny.)

It was still a pretty accurate history lesson nonetheless Rich! But yeah, hopefully Mark will chime in.
I had forgotten about Mud Puddle Visuals. I actually discovered them BEFORE the web was a thing. They had what was known as a 'bulletin board' (BBS) where you'd dial up with a modem to view images. It might take a half hour or longer to view a simple image, but at the time it was high tech!
Here is one of their samples from those days, complete with their old BBS number on it. This was probably from 1993 or 1994. Shit, I'm old.
My freshman year in college -- 1994 -- I was in the computer lab, and a guy got up to get some paperwork. On his monitor was THAT site. I quickly glanced at the address, and the content on the page.
I didn't know that these kind of sites existed.
And it was all because some random student just happened to leave his monitor unattended, and my eyes glanced at the screen for a second.

And just to rub salt in the wounds of all us late 30s/mid 40s folks, that picture you posted from MPV was from a shoot done by WSM in 1988. The model's name was Debbie.
