Re: the Stark County (IL) Fair Queen pie "tradition" mentioned in a 2010 news photo in the Abigail Taylor thread.
Here is the 2009 pieing that triggered the "tradition." The photos were found not on the official Queen or Fair sites, but on the Facebook of a friend of the queen. The pieing was orchestrated by her friends, not the outgoing queen.
Then in 2010, she decided that since she had to suffer the pie in the face the previous year, she would pass along the pleasure to the new queen. And that is how the "traidition" began.
(Also found a very blurry, useless photo of the 2013 event, except there it was the new queen's little sister that got to pie her, again not the outgoing queen. So, the "tradition," with variations, lasted at least that long.)
