...or...indy pop from the mid 1980's ...and btw, didn't everything by TMBG sound like a really cool kids song (with just kooky, funny lyrics)...?
The vocals for 'Squishy things' are kind of talky-singy (ala 90s fem vox punk rock) and they are clearly talking about fetishism (so, lyrics-wise, it is an adult song -- but hey, that never stopped little bro or sis from discovering their older brothers porn collection when he went off to college)...
I think the concern here is a little overly-sensitive/concerned...How would you rewrite the song to make it sound "adult"? ...Would you take away the one silly hook that makes the song work?
I think the whole thing is funny and well done...
Consider this indy pop song by The Primitives (adult subject, but set to REALLY catchy almost bubble gum punk pop sound):
I think in one way its talking about a fetish then on the other hand it's making light. "Dont be a prude, play with your food" I just find the whole way WaM is now main stream and like a "hobby" when for me it is a fetish a turn on. I just find the whole song weird, what's next singing about adult babies or asphyxiation fetishes.
People complain that swimcaps and goggles worn during a gunging makes it less of a turn-on for them. Imagine what those people would say about gasmarks?

Just like I love trucking on NTNOCN wasn't intended as a recruiting song for the road haulage industry, this has been produced as a bit of fun and touches on things that are said now and again.
