Everybody puts there 1st memories of WAM out here but I have one I've never seen mentioned, and may possibly be an invention of my overactive imagination. I saw it in the early 70's, but it may have been on rerun, so who knows really how old. I remember Soupy Sales and I remember people running and being targeted by a hose pumping out foam. I have always credited this scene/image with perking up my interest, but I don't know if it really exists. Anybody remember something similar?
I remember a show from the mid 70's with different teams comprised of young people from various states(of the USA). Most of the events took place out of doors and I definitely recall one competition where foam spraying hoses were utilized. IIRC, the constestants were mostly young and wore track suits of some sort. I don't recall Soupy Sales being involved in it, though.
I remember the fox costume/foam sprayer thing too. In fact, I recall watching it and seeing a very attractive woman doing a *very* bad job of avoiding the foam. I couldn't have been more than six years old and yet I recall finding the spectacle very interesting in a way that I couldn't fully understand.
For some reason I recall commercials for the show mentioning contestants trying to ride tricycles with buckets of paint over their heads... but I never saw that.
