...Because who knows when I'll get this edited! (In case you were wondering what the downside of shooting two hotties in mess for 75 minutes straight...)
Rich - your videos continue to impress, and clearly you and much of your customer base likes your emphasis on caking. But I'm not a fan, and am wondering whether we've seen the last of videos from you that are cake-free?
And yes, I realize you and other producers are put in a tough spot since you want to cater to everyone but there are often folks who hate certain things as much (if not more) than others like them. See, e.g., the shaving cream vs. cool whip debate. I guess you have to either try to be utilitarian or stick with what sells, and no one can fault you for going either route. Long story short, at least one of your fans isn't thrilled with the new caking trend.

Well, that's a shame, and understand the reasons for more cakes are simple: 1) I personally think they look awesome, and 2) Cakings account for about .05% of all WAM content.
I mean, I hope I differentiate myself in other ways, but for example: If you go, "Hey, I'd like to buy a video where a girl gets slimed..." You have, literally, 10000 choices. You can probably buy 300 scenes with slime just from me alone. Same with SC pies. And even real pies for that matter.
That said, I've rarely heard someone go, "Yeah, I won't buy that video if it's got slime in it." Because that eliminates SO many good scenes. More than likely, they simply buy a video with the models and pies they like, and skip past the sliming. Simple enough. I wouldn't say this scene is the best example (because, 8 cakes)... But you could grab Bre & Yez's earlier SS184 scene, and simply skip past the one caking apiece. You still got 20+ pies, green slimings, and two hotties getting covered. I'm just not sure the reasoning of saying you can't buy a scene unless it's cake-free.
(Then again, the anti-SC people claim to not buy scenes with even ONE SC pie in them. Basically, I could hit Kate Upton with 30 real pies in a row... but if I threw in one SC pie at the end, some folks wouldn't buy it for that reason.)
ANYWAY. There's still some cake-free scenes here and there. Sidney's first clip (SS181 S1) for starters. (Although S2 with a lot of cakes outsold it.) Taylor & Nicole's all-slime-and-SC-pies scene (SS183 S2).... which was outsold by Taylor's solo scene with a lot of cakes. (Not saying this is a trend, but....)
I also have a backlog of clips to release as I have time to edit.... Many have cakings... Some don't. It just depends. I don't see Bre doing cake-free scenes for the future (since she's my "go-to Cake Girl" now), but again, she's already done 10+ clips with no cakes at all, so....
Actually Rich, I personally won't buy a video with slime in it. I'm just not a fan. You'd be surprised how many producer videos don't have generic slime in them. Mostly, I would look for sweet substances.
Huh. If you'd told me a decade ago that one day I'd be shooting a gorgeous all-natural Latina with DD breasts.... and a long-haired Asian with a crazy booty.... together.... in micro-bikinis... getting destroyed with mess for over an hour.......
.....and the bulk of comments would be, "Sorry, it's got too much of this particular substance I don't like. No sale."

Well of course we wouldn't.
Obviously we can't let YOU shoot with Kate Upton, Rich, good grief.
ABGamma said: Rich, if there's some lesson to learn in all of the posts here, it's that everyone's' tastes are extremely specific.
Oh believe me, I've known that for years.....
Unfortunately, models still want to get paid. More than they did before, not less. I'm not looking forward to the day when every single video will be a specific custom request, but I feel like that's the only logical outcome of niche-within-niche-within-niche fetish.
Anyway, this has been a huge amount of my money and 3 days of my life editing and I'm still not close to being done. Hopefully the silent majority comes through! Either way, this might be my last "big" shoot for a while..... Downscaling (shorter scenes, less mess, one model, zero production) seems like a smart move with the new trends.
I'm definitely in the minority here, but I'm also not a huge fan of producer clips in general, so I only tend to buy them if they tick all the right boxes for me.
Don't get me wrong here, I have great respect for your work and objectively think that it is very impressive. Your style just doesn't appeal to me as much as it might appeal to most people.
Rich, if every one of your videos was exactly, perfectly what I want... I'd be VERY scared and creeped out! I buy many of them, but not all. I'm also not a fan of sliming, but as long as the pie hits come first, I'm likely to buy the video. (I mean, what's the fun of seeing a girl who's already slimed getting messier?)
I did buy a couple of your videos that were mostly sliming because the model and and her outfit were so hot.
BTW, I hope some of the unreleased video with Breana and others has them in lowcut dresses. Yes, she's incredible in a bikini. She's also incredible in a dress. She'd probably be incredible in a barrel.
Rich - I can sense your frustration and it's warranted. Just know that the candor from me and others ITT is being done with respect and out of respect. Bemoaning the fact that the WAM audience is privileged enough to be selective about its purchases won't make the situation any better. I posted because I wanted you to know why I - and perhaps others - were not purchasing some of your recent vids, not as an indictment of your style or approach.
That having been said, and since your post opened the door, I'll say that the old fashioned simple approach to which you say you might return - that sounds fine and dandy to me. I think the skimpy outfits are a tease - give me nudity or give me a girl next door dressed in normal attire. For example - li bought the video of the gymnast where she wore more clothes (reinforcing my disdain for caking) but not the one when she wore the barely there outfit. Of course sales probably skew against my tastes and I get that.
I'll end with an honest question - should folks just keep stuff like this to ourselves, since in the end it's often contradictory and best makes you second guess yourself or at worst just plain annoys you?
I feel like I have to stick up for the cakes. I like 'em. I'm much more likely to think about maybe buying a video with cakings in it than to think about maybe buying a video without cakings in it.

It's like you think we should feel bad about not wanting to spend our money on buying WAM clips we don't enjoy. In the WAM business, producers are vocal and respected, but buyers have all the power due to the massive surplus of producer clips from people who do it as a passion project and not a job.
We all have a limited amount of money and the way we spend it is how we basically vote on what we like. If clips are profitable, it indicates the community likes them and that they're worth making. If they're not, it indicates that there's not a broad enough audience. By putting our money where our mouth is, the end result is more clips that appeal to more people, resulting in an all-around better situation.
This means that regardless of what we say in these posts, there is only one thing which dictates the direction that Rich will take in future clips: the profitability of material he produces.
I do appreciate all the opinions and feedback.... It's always helpful to be honest. I'm still hopeful the end result will get people excited. We'll see.
I still think I'm gonna severely limit 2-girl shoots, though. People do talk with their wallets... and people don't talk enough about those to justify the extra cost (usually double a single-girl shoot). I wouldn't be sweating if this was just another solo Bre clip!

Well, I think of them as four-"girl" shoots, if you know what I mean. Does that make it feel any cheaper?

I think most of us posting in this thread already feel cheaper.
Nothing improves my mood more than watching this footage... HA! New philosophy after editing for 4 hours: This scene was well worth the money, regardless of if/when it becomes profitable.
A few more pics from further along in the scene. (And also a GIF which shows why I love cakes. There's a more "physical" element you don't get with pies...) I'm past 20 minutes just for the main clip, and I think this might be the first time I'll have to separate the "main" and the "outtakes." (Especially if you UMD Store buyers want to purchase this, given the 1GB limit per download.) I'm guessing final running time will be 50-60 minutes.
Messygirl said: When you have a model in a micro, are you going for the "nude" messy look, after they are completely covered?
Also, have any of your non nude models said no to your micro bikinis once they arrive to shoot?
Not necessarily.... I honestly like seeing the body cleaner with the face covered, but that might be me. They do tend to get covered on their front tho.
The purpose of the micro is basically an "in between." Almost none of my models shoot nude except Kylie. But you'd be surprised how many are OK with shooting in something that only covers, say, 10%? Breana being the prime example.
I only suggest the micros to models who have similar stuff in their port. Their responses are interesting. Vanessa (SS173/174) didn't want to do slingshots as she doesn't like how they look. But she was fine with very tiny bikinis. Sidney wanted a top that "covered" but then she let it slip off anyway? (Breana is obsessive with taping. Nothing "slips" with her.)
Didn't realize that 4th of July was coming up and picked last years patriotic Bre skit few days back, I wish I could give support to this scene but I got to wait a bit till I get some more disposable income and buy the edit when it eventually releases.
Kinda a shame there hasn't been that much talk about how great the scene itself looks I really love last years scene for a whole lot of reasons and I can clearly see you've put a TON of effort and resources into outdoing last years skit, color correcting 70+ mins of mess going everywhere is serious dedication to the craft.
I guess on cakes they were never something I specifically looked for in a scene (and still sort of isn't) but every time you've incorporated them your scenes they've been consistently amazing so whenever they come up I consider it bonus to an already great scene made even better by their addition.
Hopefully enthusiasm and sales pick up when you officially launch it I will definitely be picking up the edit when it comes out.
Thanks! TBH this was just a "Sneak Peek" post as my timetable for getting the edit and teaser video out by Friday of the holiday weekend was clearly not gonna happen.... So I figured I'd drum up a little excitement and hopefully drive sales towards the RAW clips.
It kinda spiraled out of control.... BUT people have been buying steadily, so that's good. But of course, when I finally do an "official" post with a bunch of pics and a teaser video, folks will just shrug.
(BTW I actually color-correct all the RAW footage anyway! I don't think folks realize that what comes off the camera is NOT what they buy. I tweak it a lot to make it look better. But in this case I also tried running my "Chroma filter" through all the footage and found I got really nice, accurate colors... more so than leaving the green screen background "as is." Not much extra work though. Basically it looks like normal RAW footage, but with a grey backdrop instead of my regular ones.)
