maybe it's because i'm partial and she's the love of my life, but when Korynn and I did all the challenge videos last year, this pie hit was amazing. in my opinion, the coverage was perfect, the splatter factor was perfect and i loved the way the crust started sliding down her face as she smiled through the mess. just an all around perfect pie hit. the fact that there was already some nice slime in place was just a bonus.

Agreed with one caveat: NOT the first pie hit.
I know she wiped up and "looks" clean, but you can tell it's not the first attempt from the residue around her ears and in her hair. And... The actual scene itself, which has the (pretty off-center) "true" first pie hit. (I think she flinched.)

Not trying to downgrade this scene tho. THAT hit (and another one after) are both classics from PP.

I'm trying to come up with my personal favorite from MY catalog. Too many (at least 500 "first hits" by now), too hard to pick. Maybe later tonight...

That is one of the best hits of all time. I grew up watching Family Matters and had the BIGGEST crush on Laura. When she got hit with that pie from Urkel, my heart immediately raced. I used to anticipate when that episode would air so I could capture it on tape. This was back in the late 90s.......

Thanks Johnny! This is from The Red Curtain Sessions available in the Piedpinups download store! And this is actually the fourth pie with Nettie, and it is a fave of mine as well as the second pie of the series. Rich is right about the first one being muffed. It wasn't the pressure so much as I was stupidly looking at her in the camera monitor instead of at HER ahh we learn from our mistakes. another aspect of what makes these work is the sounds, with some great wet thuds (thwaps?) and some sweet little gasps

Right with ya man.....same here. Surprisingly, Kellie ( aka Laura), lives really close to me...about 15 minutes. She said after that scene, and I quote.... "I tasted pie for a week after that". Super nice woman with 2 wonderful twins.

There are definitely a lot of great hits in the messygirl archives. Here are two great ones to share:

OK, I don't want to pimp my own crap (maybe later?) so in the spirit of Family Matters... Two "first pie hits" that stay with me:

1) Christine McGlade, the "Drugs" episode of YCDTOTV.... Not linked for obvious reasons, but c'mon. We all know this one. Absolutely perfect... Setup ("No, you wouldn't..."), hopeful look, the force of the pie (she is DRILLED with it), total coverage, and then the resignation. ("Yeah, you did...") Only negative? Not in super close-up. Fortunately....

2) Barbara Mandrell, the one we all talk about. Not sure what else you need to say. This makes up for every single Hollywood pie that was a) too soft, b) too hard, c) not sticky enough, d) not messy enough, e) fell off the face right away, f) etc.

I must've wound and rewound these for weeks on the VCR as a kid. Somehow they STILL hold up, even after hundreds of viewings.

Footnote: The one scene that everyone (well, everyone older) continually raves about... AKA "The Great Race"? NOT a good first pie hit. The second one is much better, and the final one is classic, but the first? Oof.

Not sure if this is my ultimate fav first hit of all time, but I'm pretty sure it's my favourite from your stuff, Rich (at least, of the ones I've seen).

Eryn (sp?) from SSEK1, when Elle brought her and their tall friend in to get pied. Eryn is a hot girl, the pie gets good coverage, the crust sticks and her reactions are fantastic.

1) I agree; great episode, and great scene for all the reasons you mention and more. It's on the Top Ten shelf, and in fact belongs in the top five because it was a gateway pie-ing (pun intended/apt).

2) i feel like i'd skimmed over/buried this one, but not sure why - unbelievable. Wow. I must've seen it on a Hurley Clip tape and just was like "Great!" and kept going, but man oh man.... Coverage and "thump" of hit and reaction, all amazing. A gold standard, you're right.

As huge a movie fan as I am, i've never actually seen Great Race, and only seen mostly behind the scenes photos from the sequence. My recollection is there are mostly male pies, though i have a great splat-shot that i think someone posted a while ago. I feel about mainstream movie pie-ings mostly how i feel about mainstream movie sex; bit too fussy, too over-directed, etc. (obviously b/c movie pie/cake hits are not made by and for fetishists).

Your two choices are, unsurprisingly, par excellence Rich. We definitely had all the same influences/likes when it comes to pies/WAM, clearly... In the pre-internet/Youtube world, I used to watch endless Nickelodeon reruns just to catch the "Drugs" episode or the one where Lisa gets hit with the haunted flying pie cart or something on that level again.

Hmmm, Rich can you post a pic or two from this particular volume? I just went looking but only found the Easter Bunny one from your "holiday package" - is that the same one he's talking about?

Saw it on a Hurley Clip Tape; was from some late 70s/early 80s game show, and featured a female contestant who wasn't pied but the two "game show hostesses" who were. I wanna say the game or the show was Treasure Hunt, but that seems both right and wrong.

It involved a Dabney Coleman-y character in a top hat and magician's cape who came shambling on the stage to taste the pies the two girls from the show were holding. They had I wanna say pirate bandannas on or something like that. He sticks a finger in their pies and tries them, and makes a big "Eeee-yeww!" stink about how gross they are, before pushing them in the face of one brunette and one blonde girl.

The pies are super thick, gooey-and-fluffy, and stick really well. As a fan of tall brunettes, I was particularly taken with her hit. But both were perfect, and they had to then stand there in the background with pie dripping off their faces; i think one even stands there, hands posed behind her back, waiting for the bit to end. Pretty great.

Hopefully the detailed description will help someone be able to either remember or pull up the clip.

It's in my top ten, if not top five.

**Also, for Hurley Clip Tape-rememberers, there's a brunette Katie Holmes-y girl with a southern accent who takes one big shaving cream pie for i think losing a bet in a college dorm bathroom or pool/locker room, and it's wonderful. Her reaction is really sweet, part embarrassed and part "you got me good", and for shaving cream on a plate, it's an excellent hit. It's on Volume 10-13, i believe, i just forget which one.**

I remember the second one, it's good but not spectacular. Definitely an amateur clip shot on VHS... The guy did a few of these near a pool, including one where he's pied (although that footage is cut out).

B) thank you for the help/quick response on the Treasure Hunt one. The lack of quality camerawork actually kind of helps add to it in some way (and is the reason i probably wore out the heads on my Clip Tape rewinding to try and see more), but yeah that guy should be fired.

But I have to disagree with you slightly, regarding the "Barbara Mandrell" pieing. Louise had the big '80's hairstyle. She got nailed straight in the face, and when the pie exploded, it went all over that great hair! Barbara's hair was pulled back in a bun, so it didn't look nearly as good. They were both fantastic pie hits, and the fact that they were all dressed in fancy gowns really helped to make it an awesome scene! Louise also looked like, "Oh, well..." after the hit.

I actually wore out the rewind on my Betamax from looking at these scenes over and over (and over) again!


You're definitely right about the first and last pie hits. The first was off center and didn't make too much mess. The last one is one of my two favorite hits on Natalie! It is dead center, it's big, thick, and fluffy and covers her whole face! And with one swipe of her hands (after that last hit), she gets rid of the excess pie and opens her eyes, with the cream all in around her eyes. That is one of the sexiest looks to me! My other favorite is after she throws her first pie and hits the wrong guy, she puts her hand up to her face in shock, and gets nailed with a fantastic fruit and cream pie! It just really splatters all over her. Of course, most of us have seen the "behind the scenes" pic of Blake Edwards throwing it really hard at her from very close, and heard that she was so much of a problem on the set that Blake relished nailing her with that one! All the other hits on Natalie were good, for their own (plot-related) reasons.

But I kind of liked that the 1st pie wasn't really messy, and then each succeeding pie got her messier & messier, until she was just a lump (a very shapely, sexy, lump) of pie filling, cream & crust! :devil:

Several people have talked about Laura on "Family Matters". I thought she was very cute and sexy, and besides this pie fight, she was in two food fights with a girl named Myra (I believe) who was also cute and perky. They really got everything all over each other in both of those food fights! There may have been another one, too.

I'd like to throw another scene out there. I'm not at home right now, or I would look it up (I think it's on YouTube). The scene is one of those escalating tit for tat Japanese WAM scenes, with a guy and girl in a restaurant. The woman is wearing a red dress. Eventually, when they get to the pies, he blocks the first one with his briefcase. He throws one at her, and she tries to block it with her tennis racket (cause why not?). The plate stays on the racket and she just gets creamed.

All very good points; you can tell this is early TV, because the staging is very off/awkward, when the cameras are cut to, they always seem to be just missing the key action, and the pie-tester guy is front and center/angle on him to capture his dialogue and reactions, versus the pied girls. As you say, the brunette's pre-pie reaction is ultimately why i think i like the scene so much (beyond the fact that she looks great), along with the fact that i rarely see pies shoved up into an awaiting face like this, usually it's a thrown pie or something, but this goes to why i also like "press-your-face-down-into-a-pie" hits, a la MG's "Customer is Always Right" series. There's just something very definitive about it.

Sonic: i remember well the one you're talking about; it's on one of the many Cliptapes. The Japanese really knew how to pie. (the girl's reaction in that one you're referencing i remember being priceless.) There was a real fun "Nasty"/ELECTRIC COMPANY-ishness to that run of the bit they'd do where the people just keep turning to the person behind them in line and pieing them, and the tit-for-tat at the restaurant table is one they used a few times, quite well.

I'll even go so far as to say that when i first started spotting these on the Hurley Clip Tapes, there was a few where guys get pies shoved down their pants or someone gets pied in the crotch, then one slapped into their face when they look down to react and i was like "I haven't felt those sorts of pie-related-tingles since i was young".

Someone should bring those gags back for WAM pie-ing purposes.

Maybe even the tennis racket.

I LOVED the tennis racket! She holds it up to block the pie, and of course the cream goes right through! I've always thought that was hilarious!
