Hello fellow mess lovers! Sooo . . . my local grocer is having a big sale on potatoes and I realized I could have a pretty fun session with some mashed. I'm curious if anyone has any experience playing with mashed potatoes and can answer a couple questions:

1. Will it stick in my hair too much? I've had that problem when playing with flour gunge before and had to yank on my locks pretty hard to comb out stuck bits.

2. Is it a pretty water-soluble substance or does it not wash down the drain well? Not a deal-breaker, but it's always a relief if something will just rinse rather than require scooping and scraping.

I've had mashed potatoes poured over me they were instant ones though but had no issues in cleaning up. Of course, one of the other 25 substances in the session may have helped!

If it's instant mash like Smash, will probably wash away fine with enough water, judging by how it washes up off plates, etc.

If it's real potatoes mashed up you're thinking of, that's a whole different kettle of fish, and while I doubt it'd be too hard to get off yourself, it is probably going to have a fair amount of lumps that won't go down the drains well.

I've used instant many times without any problems at all. The obvious issue with real ones is to make sure they are properly mashed so they will go down the drain if you are using a bath.

Real mashed potatoes generally don't stick to skin very well. So mushing them in your hair will be messy and fun, and shouldn't be a problem getting them out.

Putting them down undies can be great fun, too; front & back!

So, update! I had a couple things I wanted to try out, so I gave the potatoes a go. I made up some mashed potatoes the old fashioned way and found an ancient packet of instant in the cabinet, so I gave both a try. I dyed them too, because I'm a sucker for fun-colored goo After playing with some frosting, I gave myself a good head-slopping with both kinds and really tried to shampoo it in. It was fun (of course), but my main takeaway is that it washed out of my hair easily and down the drain with little trouble. (The frosting, however, likes to get stuck to my shower curtain.) Definitely will incorporate these into future funtimes! Took some sloppy selfies to share :splat:

It looks like the potatoes stuck to the frosting, so that helped for sticking on your face!

Did you notice any difference between the "real" and the instant potatoes?

Thanks, Norman! I didn't notice much of one, other than that the instant stuff that I happened to have was flavored, so it smelled like cheese. So I'd say for the time being that I'd merrily muck it up in either, though I'm certain there will be further experimentation
