It seems Saturday mash-Up has been quietly renewed for a series 2. It hasn't been officially said but the signs are there in this tweet from Presenter Jonny Nelson.
Won't go into detail on what me & @YasminEvans were doing this morn, but needless to say it was stylish & graceful & nothing to do with #valentinesday
It shows Him and Yasmin bouncing on space hoppers. There's also a 3rd person doing it, maybe she's a new presenter or maybe it's an actor meant to represent the kids watching the show. I'm assuming this is for a mash up promo shoot. I don't think it's an coincidence that the space hoppers are the same colours as the mash up set.
If they're doing promo shoots now, I would take a guess at series 2 starting late march/early april which if we get another 12 ep series would finish in June so then a longer series 3 can start in September.
This is great news if true- Saturday Mash Up was a welcome return of WAM to mainstream TV. From what I've read, the first series was generally well received, so a second series seemed to make sense.
In the job posting it says "BBC Children's Presentation is the unit which produces continuity links for both CBeebies and CBBC brands and also creates Saturday Mash-Up for CBBC"
So Mash-Up is definitely getting a second series. It's all a matter of when now.
Recently someone tweeted Jonny Nelson asking about a second series and whether there was 'any news'. He replied saying something along the lines of 'no news just yet, but keep your ears close to the ground...'
Another interesting development. Cbbc are hosting a festival featuring the presenters, they've done this for a few years now and each time they've done it they've broadcast parts of it live. Saturday Mash-Up is due to be there so maybe that means there will be a episode of mash-up from this festival. There are a ton of celebrity guests at the festival so they've got that covered. Would be a good way to open the series. The festival takes place from 3rd august to 5th august.
