But isn't the point that the Chega Mais pies don't even try to resemble actual pies (or whatever facsimiles of actual pies were used in early slapstick and are thus sort of foundational in the fetish)? I think that's the reason why some of us are mystified by the extent to which Chega Mais has been championed here.
Chega Mais pies (and most Brazilian pies now) are colorful and far more gooey and thick than normal pies. So they're closer to "mini cakes" than anything. Or maybe marshmallow cream.
But I'm starting to get your point. If you think the CM pies are WORSE than spray whip cream on a paper plate... Then no wonder you hate that show!
Not that I would expect pie fans to ignore or wholly reject Chega Mais .... but this is as if, when MPV came out with that synthetic "bleck" crap, mud fans had said "forget clay, this is our true god!"

Wow my post has turned into a debate.
Well yeah maybe they don't like getting pied, but for me that's part of the kick.
Natalie Wood hated the tomfoolery on the set of The Great Race. And was a complete diva about it. Which is why the cast took turns pieing her during the piefight. And took loads of pics, hence the shutter noises when pies hit Natalie.
Oh and in my opinion, Natalie Wood is the second most beautiful woman to be properly pied in the mainstream. Slightly behind Sabrina.

Must agree....absolutely bewildering.
You couldn't POSSIBLY throw one of those day-glo grease piles.
Of course, the girls are lovely, but it's so unpleasant to watch because it is clear they aren't having fun (despite the occasional forced or nervous smile), they hate getting pied, the vibe is not playful it is mildly sadistic and the pies are awful examples of a slapstick missile.
I doubt that the director Blake Edwards would let the other actor take turns pieing Natalie (or that Natalie wood put up with that)...maybe Jack Lemon...but I'd like to read where someone who was there on set verifies this....pictures? interview transcript?

It's in Natasha the Natalie Wood biography. I had screengrabs on my old pc. But that was ten years ago. So maybe I'm wrong. But if anyone has it then let us know. Did I make it up ?!!!

One thing that is certain is that director Blake Edwards threw the second pie that Natalie was hit with (i.e. the first really good pie she takes, the cherry and cream one she's hit with after running to the bottom of the stairs and throwing her first pie or two). You can see Edwards doing the deed in the photo above. One of the bios definitely says that Edwards was so fed up with Natalie's diva-ish behavior on set that by the time they got around to filming the pie fight (late in the production cycle for the movie), he completely relished the idea of nailing Natalie with a pie.
Debate the pie quality all you want, but for me this particular pieing will take some beating. Gorgeous and pretty girl, lovely long brown hair, fab expressions and some amazing pre and post shots. Definitely the pieing of 2015 for me, including from producers.
Hey PD 69...thanks for that great NW photo...never seen it before...underwear or bikini indeed!...But then, back in the early 60's (or thereabout), bathing suits were designed more feminine, more frilly (ruffles etc.)...so, difficult to say, but I think it's a bikini...on the other hand, Natalie was known for her rather serious drinking habit...so, maybe she thought she was wearing a bikini (or didn't give a damn) and wandered outside like that
As for the CM pies....sure, as a purist, I prefer the real thing (and its random coverage when thrown)...but, there are ALWAYS exceptions...the classic being the 3 Stooge pies, which were NOT real pies most of the time, but concoctions of pumkin pie filling and shaving cream (and even ketchup)...yet we remember these shorts for their great pie hits....same with many Japanese games shows, which are almost always real (and thick) cream on a paper plate...usually thrown with great force for impact effect....the scenes with a guy and a gal at a bar with the bartender throwing pies in one or the other's face is a great example..those scenes are quite memorable and stand the test of time....
So, back to CM...I think the pies are designed to be 1] colorful, 2] really gooey, and 3] consistent coverage..plus, the consistent formula makes for a cheaper prop budget.
I just checked... You can basically pick any week between 4/26 and 6/21. (5/3 is probably the ultimate one to see her get destroyed, pity they never uploaded it in HD.)
She WAS pied well in 4/19... But the show decided not to upload that segment, so we'll never see it. (Again... PLEASE... Is there anyone in Brazil that can record a show in real time??) And by 6/14 she's definitely taking the diva stance... Someone basically has to hold her arms down so she can get pied well. (Ironically, that show was the LAST time Barb wasn't a diva... She went 0-for-3 and took two great pies. She would never let the producers allow her to miss every question after that.)
There's a couple other shows after 6/21 but they're few and far between. EDIT: 7/19 (AKA The Best Episode This Show Will Ever Do) and 9/20 (super-hot low-cut dress, two so-so pies) are the only ones. I think she quit soon after once she realized she'd still have to take a pie every 2 months or so.
