I think it is fairly safe to say that most pie in the face fans would agree that the best part of a pie vid is when the girl is hit in the face with the first pie. It is when she officially goes from clean to messy.
Some producers, clearly aware of this, will attempt to make that part even better by editing it up. Maybe they will replay it on a loop 3 times, maybe play it in slo mo, maybe play it from one angle and then show it from the other 2 angles. Something like that.
I am of the belief that they RUIN what should be the best part. Just play it through. Let the viewer edit it themselves if they want.
Agree! I've seen Youtube clips showing a girl fall into water, or some other liquid, and they'll repeat it several times, or perhaps slow it down. Just once is enough, guys!
Eh... Over the years I've done some hits from multiple angles back-to-back or whatever. Usually NOT the first hit, but sometimes a particular hard or spot-on throw. I rarely do it anymore, but never say never.
I also used to "replay" the slimings from two angles (Closeup & Medium) which never garnered objections, but now I don't do that either since the edits are getting long as they are.
Anyway, it's fairly easy to just buy the complete, unedited, unaltered footage for nearly all my scenes. If you're looking to make your own "fan edit," that's the way to go. I assume people who buy my official edits are OK with the occasional effects & music & green screen. (Or they feel it's a fair trade-off to lose the sound of my voice and nearly all trace of me on camera.)
I can go either ways on this. Sometimes you want a brief "money shot" extended to climaxable duration. Other times, it's ruined by slo-mo inserted between the pie hit (or mud fall, or whatever) and the aftermath, or some other ill-advised cutaway. Have definitely "fixed it in post" for a few favorite scenes.
Yes, I would argue that "ruining the best part" USED to mean a bad camera angle... Or a too-quick cutaway from the "money shot".... Or a super-quick fade-to-black... Or (for all you fans of amateur YouTube videos) the cameraman deciding to pan TO THE GROUND. Because did you know how much mess one pie can make ON THE GROUND? (Not on a face. Just the ground.)
But sure, seeing a great hit repeated again from different angles probably ruins it too.
The thing is, its just not "amateurs on youtube" missing the shot because they are busy filming the frickin' floor. Veteran producers do this too. This is why in all my customs I specifically request they do not do that. Its maddening!

Actual producers on this forum SHOOT THE FLOOR and still charge money for their work??? Who is this?!?
When I customed Party Pies 1 with Jess West and Miss T, there was a nice hit to the face that was missed because the cameraman was busy panning down. After that, I started requesting that they keep the camera on the faces.
There is a shot here and there on certain pro videos. Can't think of any others off hand though.

Anyone agree? Disagree?
A smart producer puts the replays at the end of the video.
Different angles are fine but I just don't see any justification for all that replay nonsense - the viewer can replay, slow down, freeze frame to her heart's content. Also, slow-motion with the soundtrack intact adds a nightmarish bad-trip quality. That's a buzz-kill. But what really rips my nighty is when it's billed as a 15 minute scene, and what you get is 5 minutes of footage and 10 minutes of 'bonus footage', ie replay. Benny Hill-style speeded up footage of the models running around is always welcome, however.
