Going for a walk in the pouring rain is great fun. Especially after a hot day in summer when we sometimes get a refreshing downpour. If it's warm, you don't really need rainwear at all. Just let the rain soak you. If you do cover up, better if your rain jacket is loose or partly undone. Let the rain run inside. It's been so dry in the UK for weeks now that serious harm is being done. We badly need rain, and when the rain does arrive we should all go outside and enjoy it. Peter
Early this morning, at first light, we had very heavy dark clouds overhead. It felt unusually mild, even warm. Light drizzle started to fall. I decided to change for a walk. There was a strong breeze blowing. For the first ten minutes outside, the light rain made me only a little damp. Disappointing. A view towards the horizon, however, looking in the direction that the wind was coming from, showed that everything was obscured by a grey curtain sweeping down from the clouds. The rain became steadier before gusts of wind carried a series a splatters against my back. I felt my light rain top wet against me as rainwater bounced all around and the footpath became awash. Now it was absolutely pouring. I carried on for ten minutes, suddenly enjoying this walk so much.I Numerous joggers, walkers and cyclists passed. I turned around, to feel the rain battering into my face and drenching me to the skin. Lovely!
