Hello there, Long time lurker, first time poster here. After lurking in the community for a long time, I decided to try my hand at a little wam in the form of pies, but I had some issues I was hoping I could get some advice on. After talk to someone in the community for some time, I decided to try to use whip cream over shaving cream, but I had issued with coverage. I found that it just would not stick. After trying a few pies, I was left with little to no cream, and what little did stick to my face fell off after a few seconds. I let the cream thaw, so I don't think it was a issue of frozen cream or anything. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?

What type of whipped cream? Spray can or the tub of stuff you have to layer on with a spatula? I've generally had success with spray can whipped cream, but I also add in other sticky stuff like pudding or yogurt which usually sticks better. Hope that helps!
If you used spray whipped cream, Cool Whip is definitely the better option. It's non dairy, so it won't have the same melting problem as the spray stuff. Even store brand stuff is just fine.
If you used Cool Whip, you probably just didn't let it thaw long enough. If it's too cold, it'll slide right off your face without leaving much of a mess. You'll want to set it out for at least a couple of hours to thaw, long enough that if you stir it in the container, it'll mix easily and doesn't have that ice cream-like texture.
I've got some experience making some pretty decent pies, so feel free to message me if you need some help!

It was store-brand Cool Whip, and I let it sit for about two hours before using it. No go. Would that make that much of a difference?
Hard to say. If it was straight out of the freezer, that might not have been enough time. It can be a finicky substance... sometimes a couple hours Isn't enough, sometimes it's too much. I try to defrost it overnight in the fridge, and then let it sit on the counter for an extra hour or two the next day. That way it's softened up enough that you won't get the frozen part in the middle.
Cool whip works pretty well but....If you have a local Sams club, go to the bakery section and ask for a 12 lb. tub of buttercream icing/frosting. It works GREAT once thawed and i even like to mix Some milk in to make it even creamier. Its makes for EXCELLENT coverage. The 12 lb. tub will make around 20-25 pies and only costs $20! (Did i mention that it tastes great)
I tried Piesubs some idea and got mixed results. When I tried it as pies and had the same issue with very little sticking to my skin. When I grabbed it and just started rubbing blobs into my face and had better results. It had been sitting out for about 3 hours to come to room temperature. Do you think it needs more liquid? Any ideas?
My favorite is pudding with whipped cream on top. Play around with the pudding mix till you get the right consistency and its sure to make a huge mess with just one pie.
Just tried Sub's idea again after letting the cream thaw longer and come to room temperature longer. I also added milk to it as I mixed it. The results were night and day. Lovely coverage and my first true lovely wam experience. Four pies.

I went back and tried cool whip with mixed results... I let it thaw for about three hours before I emptied the tubs into a larger bowl and mixed it. The results gave nice initial coverage, but it didn't stay long and fell off much like it did before. Probably a minute or two. Any ideas?

Mix some stuff into cool whip like sugar or cake mix, even frosting or marshmallow. I don't have a set ratio but use those items on my pies. Pics on profile and usually there are descriptions in the albums on what's in what
