Hi, i am just wondering how someone is able to message me using the private chat bar when their profile says they haven't actually been online since last weekend ? Just wondering if this is a known glitch x
I believe that because the main body of the site and the hangout run on different software, the 'last online' refers only to the main site; hence if they've been in the hangout but not on the forums, they can chat while apparently not there. You might want to seek confirmation from MM, but I suspect I'm right.
Hey I not been on here much unfortunately I am not that popular so don't get many people chatting to me full stop I always happy to chat with like minded messy people though

Good question @messmaster would know I haven't used chat much
Mike was right. The chat is basically a separate program that's been integrated into UMD, and it was never built to update your actual UMD online status even if you're active on the chat.
Many pages you hit on UMD will instantly update your Last Online status, but that won't happen if you don't hit one of those pages, or if you sit on one page for days and occasionally chat, which some people actually do.
Last night I was able to program UMD to check the chat's Last Online users once per minute and then turn around and update their actual UMD Last Online status if it was older. So I think this will finally solve the problem of the ghost chatters!
I also became aware that the chat's user-block feature was not doing its job right, so blocked users could possibly still message you. I've patched that bug as well.
