Just came across a content makers page on deviantart and she uses building grade polyurethane sealant to cover her naked body. The coverage is very thick and she has left it on her for 5 days. Not only does she do this she also paints varnish and enamel paint over the top!
She has videos of the same session on X where she has filmed the end results and the coverage is that thick and stiff her legs creak/squeak as she lifts them
Sounds like it is a form of WAM, and Section 4 of the safet docs (link below) suggests not particularly risky, though I imagine if left to set it may be somewhat painful to remove?
I've always felt that wam requires something to be wet. (wet and messy) If a product soon dries into a solid, I no longer consider it wam. (although technically it was when first applied)
It's like body casting. When the plaster is first applied, it is wet and therefore wam, but once dry, no.
Often we see things like feathers or sprinkles added during a wam scene, and to me these are also not wam substances, as they are dry. I've seen where someone bathes in sand, or sugar, or some other dry substance, and that's also not wam.
To me, the 'wet' in 'wet and messy' must be there in order to make something be wam.
Please remember tgat this is her past time not a business don't go freaking her out, if anyone thinks I should remove link say. I do not want anyone being upset.
I see a lot of people mention safety so I'll weigh in before anyone tries copying this;
Chemical safety will depend on the brand/type of sealant used- different sealants will use different solvents and chemicals to make the product work. Some of these are reasonably safe and others are pretty toxic. Check the product labels and MSDS. Your personal sensitivity to the various chemicals will also vary- test on a small scale first.
Physical safety- you're coating your body with an air-tight layer, very much like a thick rubber wetsuit. Your body will not be able to cool itself properly if you coat yourself in this. People have died from doing stuff like this on a warm/sunny day and being unable to cool themselves.
Also you'll need to make sure this stuff doesn't bond to your skin before using it, or look at using some form of barrier cream/oil to stop it bonding to you. And shave first, it sounds like it'll rip out hair.
Staying in it for days at a time raises some pretty potent bodily hygiene issues too.
All that being said- this kind of stuff is perfectly safe to do under controlled conditions, as it's a pretty common technique in the film industry for all number of character effects etc.
This also reminds me of the spray on dress shown at a fashion show. It dried and became a dress immediately, but it sure did feel like wam when it was being applied with sprayers.
Plaster casting, silicone lifecasting, liquid latex, and bodypainting all seem to have this characteristic where it was wam but dried hehe. I have seen things like a body painted woman getting into mud. It makes me wonder if it it can be incorporated into wam, like getting messy while wearing liquid latex and then stripping it off to get clean hehe. Any existing scenes like this? It seems like a sub-niche of a niche.
