This is what we've been using for a while now, It's been though pies, slime, cake batter, chocolate, everything. We throw it in the wash and it's ready to go again. The only down side is the sides are not protected. So we have a stain or two on the side of our mattress lol.
I normally just use tarps. Just make sure that whatever you buy it's big enough so as to really tuck it into the sides. You might also need to protect the floor around the rim of the bed,
If you're playing with anything sticky, a waterproof mattress case works wonders. With just a tarp or even a fitted sheet, you could easily end up in a human flypaper situation... which can also be fun...
I have an aero bed, and a plastic sheet set. They're a little dusty, but always did the trick. I've used the plastic sheets on my old mattress also, clean up was fairly simple. Certainly the experience of being in bed was more fun. Worth it.
those PVC bedsheets are pretty ace at first for maybe 2 uses but they degrade very quickly. I guess like rubber, using anything with a fat content in it perishes it somewhat
This may be my hippy side showing, but I'd feel bad about the plastic waste with any sort of single use sheeting for WAM. The place I'm living isn't really suited to taking anything outside of the bathroom, but I'd really want something that would last a while.
I tend to be a neat freek outside of my WAM Life.....I typically have a mattress cover, then tarp over the bed itself, tucking it under the legs of the bed, with smaller tarps on the floor around the bed.....When wamming in bed I love getting caught up in the moment and not worrying about mess getting through. You can get as wild as you like and clean up is a breeze.
While deciding you can go to a big box hardware store like Home Depot and get a roll of plastic tarp. I recall we would get a roll that was ten feet wide & 50 feet long.. We didn't use it on a bed but on a carpeted floor. The bonus: when things got really out of hand and it was time for cleaning we'd carefully fold it so all the glop settled in the middle. Then we'd put this plastic-encased mess into a large lawn and leaf bag. It saved lots of time in the clean up.

I've done this too. I bought vapor barrier on a roll, and the heavier it is, the less wrinkles and folds you'll encounter. It's worth the extra cost. You can even re-use pieces if you can get them outside to hose them off.
