I love it. It's like the humiliating crown and glory. I like women being pied but I gotta admit that I love when Dean Travers in the 3's Company pie fight gets pummeled by pies and then a last pie slammed on top of his head. I wish more women would do that in pie fights.
I personally love this! I mean, obviously I'm gonna say a thrown pie in the face is the best, but a REALLY close second is on top of the head I got natalie really good with a few of these in our first shoot and I'm not gonna lie, it was pretty great for me. Can't comment on what she thought atm though.
edit: apologies for the quality, our video equipment wasnt the best a few months ago
Jen (shooting with me in a couple of weeks) will absolutely have pie hats. She specifically mentioned wanting not just her face obliterated but various messes dumped over her head too, including pies.

I actually noticed a handful of awfully great ones in your latest scene as well. Definitely glad to hear it wasn't a coincidence.
Very much a good idea in my book.
hahaha yeah no, that was def not a coincidence plus her hair is so long, I can't not mess it up. I really want to pie sandwich her too, but as someone who has gotten a bean stuck in my ear during a session, I'd like her to be wearing some earplugs when i give her a sandwich
Just wanted to say that while I enjoy a good pie hat, it's still just a supplement to the pie in the face to me. I don't really like a pie hat much when it comes *instead of* a pie to the face. This isn't likely to happen in a pie-based video from a WAM producer (although it does happen sometimes in produced WAM when a pie or two is just one of a dozen different messy substances used), but is not terribly uncommon in mainstream WAM.
I don't really understand how a pie on top of the head is more humiliating than the pie smooshed right into the face, but that's just me. I do get, however, that it arguably creates even more of a lasting mess, because it's harder to clean pie out of hair than it is to wipe it off a face.
I think pie hats are great when someone is totally pied and is like the cherry on the top. Def doesn't work the same as a first pie, but when done right they are fantastic!
I think we've actually been discussing two different things here, as far as 'pie hats' go.
One is after the usual pie in the face, the empty tin is placed on the victim's head, like a hat.
The other is smooshing an entire pie over the victim's head, resulting in very messy hair and even more pie filling falling or running down the head and body.
I'm all for the second version. Placing an empty pie tin on a model's head is fun, but does nothing for me.
Can we clarify what is actually meant by 'pie hat'?

Yeah, I think this is the only circumstance in which a pie to the top of the head actually works for me. There has to be that fleeting moment where the guy thinks "at least it wasn't to the face" right before the second pie hits him in the face

Agree completely! For me, the pie hat that always triggered me was the one in Three's Company's Bake Off episode. Absolutely epic pie barrage followed by the top of the head pieing for complete coverage and decimation.

I would understand a pie hat to be when a pie is smashed over the head but leaving the crust or sponge base minus the filling (which falls over the face, down cleavage, into lap etc) as a kind of hat.
There's a clearly emerging consensus that a pie hat on its own is insufficient but that, as part of a barrage of pies to the face and chest, can offer some variety and introduce some of the pie into nooks and crannies that might otherwise remain clean.
As the pie crust or base on the head as a hat looks ridiculous too, there's the added bonus of humiliation!
