Just had a deep (and disappointing) conversation with my wife last night. She admitted that while she does not dislike the idea of sploshing, she has serious problems with the resulting food waste. My ideal splosh includes pies, chocolate sauce, and cake batter/oatmeal slimes.

She did say she wouldn't have a problem if we used non-food products. Three things came to mind: mud, shaving cream, and Natrosol. My wife also mentioned borax & cornstarch slimes though not sure either of those viable.

I was wondering if people have other recommendations of things to try. Also, sources to buy Natrosol or similar products in the US?

For what it's worth, I once had a WAM session fall through at the last minute and attempted to donate three dozen pies to a local food bank. They wouldn't take them. Admittedly, it was partly because they were well on their way to being thawed, but the guy told me "We normally don't take dessert stuff like that. That's not what the people we serve need."

Of course, a nice slice of pie could be seen as a huge luxury to anyone who doesn't get something like that on a regular basis, but the sort of pies we WAMmers typically buy -- the low end supermarket brands that cost as little as possible -- rarely taste very good either.

What I would do is simply say "Dammit woman! I MAKE THE RULES! I AM THE FACE OF GOD,AND I WILL REIGN FIRE ON YOU FROM THE SKY!"

And then you drop your pants and tell her it's time to honk on bobo.

There is no shortage of food in the world, especially not in North America and indeed the UK where obesity is the more pressing health issue. There is more than enough food in the world to feed everyone.

Where people don't have enough to eat, it is either due to war or other upheaval so that food is not readily available locally or because some people are too poor to buy the available food. So are we to say that any form of entertainment is immoral because it wates money that could have gone to charity? Is it wrong to go to the movies because the money could have been sent to Oxfam instead? Some would say yes, most no. I don't see sploshing with food as any different to that.

While I appreciate everyone trying to justify why cake batter and pies is not being wasteful..... its not really helpful. She has made this decision for herself and the idea makes her personally uncomfortable. She doesn't cast negative judgement on me or this community, its just a personal issue for her.

So as a compromise I am trying figure out ways to meet her in the middle.

i'd go down the natrasol and shaving foam route and perhaps even mud. Perhaps ask her what she things you should use instead.

One of the reasons that I love wamming in food is that I like getting food in my mouth while playing. For me, pleasant-tasting food during fun play, and savoury food during "punishment" play really adds to it.

I'd strongly recommend mud, either (or both) playing with pottery clay at home, or find a secluded tidal river-bank on a hot day and spend time sliding about together.

On Saturday just past I took two girls out to the East Lincolnshire mudlands, and they had an absolute whale of a time playing in the clay. The sun was blasting down, there was no wind, the air temperature was over 25 degrees, and we must have spent about an hour and a half in the mud. They slid down to the bottom of a gully together, then one would try and crawl back up, the other would let her almost get away, before grabbing her boot and dragging her back down, sliding her through the liquid clay - and then the other one would try and escape and have the same thing done to her.

For the two girls it was both brilliant fun, and quite sensual, so doing the same thing with a partner and adding erotic to it would be an easy step-up, and for anyone who's never done it, there really is nothing quite like getting specially dressed up and then deliberately completely covered in mud, it's just an amazing experience. Take a couple of jerrycans full of hot water (which will cool to warm during the journey and play session) and pour them over each other to wash the worst of the mud off afterwards. Just get hands and faces clean on location, you can finish the job properly in a shower at home or a hotel room.

Take coveralls and rubber boots, and after the wash off, put them on, coveralls tucked into boots - this is to keep the remaining mud inside, and protect your car (so kind of the opposite way round to how people usually wear overalls, to keep the dirt out). Have waterproof seat covers on your car seats, and a large plastic box (plastic so doesn't leak) in the boot (trunk) to put the muddy clothes in. If you're going back to a hotel, you could add waterproof trousers and jacket over the coveralls so you're not walking through reception in obviously wet overalls.

Be warned, mud does get all over everything given half a chance but with sensible precautions you can keep it off your car interior.

Of course if you have a pickup or 4x4 with a hose-down interior it becomes even easier, and you can probably drive closer to your location in a 4x4.

Try and avoid rivers with a lot of industry along them (or be well upstream of it), check any location before use, and if there's a film of oil on the mud, don't use that location or river. It might not be harmful but better safe than sorry and oil stops the mud covering the clothes (or skin) properly.

How about the gunges.... do they cause any stingy or irritation beyond what I would experience with cake batter?

How about methyl cellulose. It a powder that can made several different types of slime. I use it all the time. There are several varieties that can feel like oatmeal, slippery, or kind of chucky and thick. I buy my slime from here http://buckets-o-fun.com/product-category/yuck-slime/ . They even have mixing instructions and advise for cleaning and disposal.

Thanks for the tip on the methyl cellulose..... any chance you have a photo sample of it being use to make an oatmeal-like slime? Oatmeal is my second favorite substance and would love to find a way to replicated it.
