Yeah, the prequels weren't all that great. Some good scenes in each film, but as a whole, meh.
However, these new films are not being done by George Lucas (who was starting to run the franchise into the ground). J.J Abrams is directing and co-writing this one.
So that gives fans hope that this one will be geared to all fans, and not just kiddie-marketed like with Lucas.

Yep.
I've been trying to bear that in mind leading up to this, but seeing how it's being approached and the absolute love of everyone involved... and mainly that George Lucas isn't involved... I've been trying to manage my expectations but...

Well, you really can't call what happened to the central characters in "RotJ", "resolutions", since their story is continuing in this new film. I do agree about the muppets and ewoks in the film. The worst, though was making Han Solo a bumbling comic relief.
J.J. Abrams is the dimwit who put the "Beastie Boys" in Star Trek
Joss Whedon might have been able to rescue Star Wars, but J.J. Abrams and Disney? Please.
Well, since 'Star Trek' is an Earth-based sci-fi story, I don't have a problem with the Beastie Boys being used (I have never seen the reboot, though).
Now, if he used it in Star Wars, that might be different, but I doubt he will.
And I'm not worried about Disney. They haven't messed up the Marvel Universe, so I think they can do well with Star Wars. Look at some of the Star Wars themed animation series they've done on Disney XD. Pretty well done, and not infected with a bunch of kiddie marketing junk like Lucas was prone to do.
I don't know if this film will be good or not, but having people involved with the film that are going to make it for all the fans who grew up with the stories, and not just make it a marketing tool for the youngsters, gives me hope.
