I've been here for ages but had my first public mud experience a couple of days ago and just wanted to share it.
I was out on a bike tour and went along some smaller tracks when there was a really nice muddy puddle. After a long time of hesitation, I decided to role in and covered my shorts and shirt quite well - actually I was surprised how quickly it was soaked with thick mud.
As this had not been prepared I had to think of the next step and I know a lake was about 15 minutes by bike through the forest away. It felt good to cycle being all muddy with the kind of excitement that someone would see my.
However, the paths were really empty. I only met one other cycler whom I passed quickly not looking at him.
The great thing is that the lake I went to is quite hidden so I could enjoy sitting there all muddy before taking a bath.
I am curious about your experiences (I know it has been posted before...). It is interesting how I am afraid of being caught - even though biking in muddy clothes is not illegal as far as I know. =)
I enjoyed reading your post! It's certainly not illegal, I'm sure. Something which I think lots of us did or wanted to do as kids. As adults, social norms and expectations often override an ongoing desire. I used to do something similar while jogging. Would head for waterlogged pitches in the park. It was easy and fun to slip over in a nice deep muddy puddle. In warm summer, nothing better than a run in a rainstorm Now we have mudruns. So there are a lot of takers for this, but many need to have the permission of taking part in an organized event! Mr W
