From last night's episode of Mrs. America. Cate Blanchett portrays conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly who gets pied in the face by a protester. This was based on a real incident with an apple pie though the show wisely used a cream pie in the episode. A rare instance of Hollywood improving on the quality of mess!
The good news, Cate is a A-list Hollywood star. The bad news, she didn't do anything for me. Same case with Glenn Close in the dalmatians films. I mean, the scene is great, the pie, the coverage, the humiliation factor. But any of the other actress in this show (Sarah Paulson, Rose Byrne, Elizabeth Banks) would have been a better choice in my opinion for a pie in the face.

Elizabeth Banks has been pied in the past before and she looks amazing by the way Pinhead, check out the group Faceplants. I've been posting material there
There was no aftermath to see...because as the article says, it was an apple pie, not a cream pie...so the producers of the show embellished the scene for a greater effect because apple pie as a wam substance is about as useless as spaghetti.
Cate Blanchett just turned 51 too (on 5/14). Not often we get a great celebrity pieing so close to the birthday. She's executive producer on the show too so she could've avoided it but it's great that she committed to the role so much that she'd do it (and credit to whoever's decision upgraded it from an apple pie to a cream pie).
