Mrs S wants to be covered in gunge with glitter mixed in - obviously getting some plain gunge in the eyes is pretty harmless, but any thoughts on whether this is safe with glitter in, or whether her eyes could get harmed?
In theater / stage productions we call Glitter "Stage Herpies" for a reason. It goes fuck everywhere. It never leaves. I swear I have worked on stages that glitter from the 70's is still on the stage.
Glitter is tiny little pieces of sharp-edged material. You do not want glitter suspended in gunge, in the eyes. That could easily become an absolute nightmare scenario.
I've done a shoot with glitter in it (and coloured feathers). The lady involved didn't experience any problems on that occasion.
On another occasion I mixed multicoloured metallic sprinkles (for cake decoration) into golden syrup and this was far more effective - and being edible - held much less risk of sharp edges on eyes.
there are some glitters which are safer too - so finding a reputable eye makeup brand that do glitter, as these are designed for use around the eyes, so unless the company messes up, then it shouldn't have the sharper particles. Down side is, it will cost a lot more for smaller packages

Along similar lines, you can buy edible glitter (and something similar called 'lustre dust') which would be safer but might dissolve somewhat depending on the product. Though some say they can be used in drinks which means they shouldn't dissolve too much - I guess trial & error will be your friend!

Wouldn't that add to the humiliation factor if it's that kind of scene?

We've done several glitter shoots including a glitter bath. It's very important to have your model protect their eyes. Keep them powered shut and o it open them when they are able to wash them out first.
