Never used maple syrup but golden syrup is basically just sugar. So the trick is, warm shower, and just stand or sit under the flowing water. No scrubbing or shampooing at first, just let the water flow for 5 or 10 minutes, and it all just dissolves and melts away. Then, once all dissolved, shampoo and confition normally. But have the patience to just let the water flow first. I've noticed modern people are often in too much of a rush, because some joy-thief has told them a shower should be over in a couple of minutes. Patience and time are the keys to using syrup successfully.
Being both very, very sticky and visually effective both black treacle and golden syrup look like they'd be trouble in long hair. You can't 'shampoo' it once it's saturated into long hair - it pulls too much and be careful when you pour 14 litres of it over someone's head - they can't breathe through it! But in terms of washing off with warm water it's a 1 out of 5 for difficulty.
Wrote a big article all about it in depth the other day, including where to get it in bulk, saving money, how to prepare it and cleaning it off anything and everything including long hair

Cool, but it's important to note that doesn't really matter - all the same advice still applies as it's all basically the same composition. It's all syrup, treacle/molasses or not. Some are a little bit thinner but there's not much difference.
Rule of thumb is that sugar-based is easy to wash out with water, oil-based can be washed with soap, gluten-based can be rinsed out with cool water, oil, and time.
